The year was 2007. Netflix was making nearly $1 billion in revenue mailing DVDs. They decided to disrupt their own model, endure struggles and complexity by diving all in to online streaming. Now, Netflix’s revenue dwarfs the GDP of Vermont. Netflix took a risk. Blockbuster was resistant to change. Today, one is leading, the other is gone. Yet, as humans, we often balk at the very notion of change. A mere shift in plans or a new traffic circle can send us into a tailspin. And despite having more tools and resources than ever before, we seem to be getting more risk averse to changes. But the world is changing around us and our clients. Expectations will naturally evolve. Which has me thinking: how can we harness the daring spirit of game - changers like Netflix to elevate the experiences we offer our clients every day?

Pivot. Every great company has made key pivots to continue growth and expansion. Lets take Netflix for an example. Netflix started of as DVD rentals. Now they are a streaming giant. Netflix not only pivoted and changed their trajectory of the company. It changed the trajectory of the entire entertainment space. Recognizing the right moment to change direction can mean the difference between stagnation and breakthrough success. It is important to know that Netflix did NOT just dip their toes into streaming.
