💡 For this #InclusiveLeaderFeature, I had the chance to talk with Tracie Orisko of Huntress. If you know Tracie or have seen her in action, you know her passion is people. In this interview she shares her path to understanding inclusion and her focus on more than personal stories to foster collective and inclusive environments. Watch now in the #InclusiveLeadershipNetwork
Last week I had the honor of listening to Dawanna S. Witt, the current Hennepin County Sheriff, at our monthly meeting for The Minneapolis Women's Rotary (MWR). She is the first woman and person of color to hold the office. She is an authentic leader who leads from her heart. She uses her past experiences to be the person she and her siblings needed as children. Here are my top 10 things that resonated to me in her leadership style. #mwr#mplscentral#lessonsinleadership#community
1.) Authenticity
2.) Doing the right thing
3.) Remembering your why
4.) Talk to people- without communication you have nothing but chaos
5.) The power of a hug
6.) What can you do differently
7.) Why not me
8.) Heart of service
9.) The power of one- even if just helping one person, isn’t that enough
10.) Learn to love yourself. Embrace all the good and the opportunity for improvement
Two examples of inclusive leadership in action today and yes, I'm going to give these people their flowers out loud.
1 - Alix Sampson slipping into my DM's connecting me to an emerging queer leader. Flagging someone I'll have lots to learn from and I'm excited to meet. Alix used her network as a powerful tool to help distribute relationship capital. Our networks a form of power and privilege and something we can use for good, if we are intentional about it!
2 - Cath Stone sent a thank you email with specific feedback to a group of us working on a project. It was a great example of recognizing the collective contribution of the people who collaborated on it and a reminder of the impact we have together, in service of a common goal.
Small acts are not always seen but they are powerful. It's what we do when the cameras aren't rolling that matters.
What can you do today that redistributes power, shows that you see someone's uniqueness and unites people with each other and/or a common goal?

Our voice is something that we are born with; it is not something we must earn- though it is something that we must learn to trust and use. Moreover, although our voices belong to us first and foremost, we also have a responsibility to honor the past and shape the future with them.
Despite how the world may try to silence our voices, our ancestors paved the way for us, and leveraging our voices for change is our homage to them. Furthermore, future generations are also depending on us to lift our voices up for them. Therefore, let us ever be unapologetic in exercising our right to be heard.

Cable's Diversity Week (https://lnkd.in/g6ygC52i), is an exciting series of conferences and events designed to highlight and advance diversity practices within various industries. Every year, over a thousand top executives come together to participate in this dynamic week. They showcase their company's dedication to diversity, engage in educational sessions, celebrate diversity champions, and collaborate to create best practices.
One of the highlights of Diversity Week is the NAMIC Annual National Convention (ANC), themed "Our Legacy, A Mosaic of Possibilities." The convention will be hosted during Diversity Week and promises to be an event not to be missed (https://lnkd.in/gRm8j-wG).
As we approach the NAMIC ANC, I'll be shining a spotlight on some of the remarkable leaders in our industries who have generously sponsored NAMIC - ATLANTA, INC.'s Coffee Talk series. These individuals are champions of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) and are dedicated to promoting the importance of equity and inclusion. However, they also recognize the importance of visibility and the need for talented professionals to be recognized for their contributions.
Next on our list of Leaders and DE&I champions is a roundtable of NAMIC Chapter Presidents: Denya ChinQuee, MBA (NAMIC New York), Monique Manners, SSBB, PgMP, CFT (NAMIC - South Florida, Inc.), Dwayne Edghill (NAMIC Philadelphia), and Danielle Green (NAMIC - SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, INC.). Our conversation became a journey of discovery, touching on the essence of our 'Why', the nuances of chapter inclusiveness, and forward-thinking strategies in programming and succession planning. NAMIC has a wealth of inspiring leadership, and we've only just begun to uncover its depth and potential.
Watch and you'll understand immediately - I hope you enjoy!
As part of our monthly Women’s Initiative programming, lawyer and professional development expert Elise Holtzman is hosting two unique programs designed to celebrate and elevate the women attorneys of Goldberg Segalla this May and June:

Building Authentic Relationships That Drive Success and Happiness: How to build powerful connections that help you feel more engaged at work, be tapped for growth opportunities and leadership roles, and develop meaningful client relationships that thrive.
Leadership is not just about directing or dictating.
It's about embracing the unique strengths and struggles that shape who we are and using that as a foundation to inspire and elevate those around us.
In my continuing series of contemplative reflections, I delve into the transformative essence of Queer Leadership, a leadership style that thrives on individuality, authenticity, and a fierce commitment to humane rights.
