🌟 Check out this truly inspiring read! 📖 🏠 This case study showcases how building a successful coalition, managed by dedicated staff, can tackle a housing crisis. It exemplifies the power of unity. We're truly stronger together! 💪  🔗 Link to the article: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dHtQHFCK  "One of the things I'm very proud of is that the pro-housing advocates really un-siloed ourselves." - Madeline Kovacs, head coalition organizer for the "Portland for Everyone" housing density reform movement. 🤲 Recognizing that zoning protection for large-family homes and estates has perpetuated inequality and made housing unattainable for many, Kovacs and Eli Spevak formed a collective movement involving non-profits, environmental groups, homebuilders, trade associations, anti-displacement orgs, and more. Through educational outreach and relentless efforts, they built the #PortlandForEveryone movement that caught the attention of the Portland city's Planning Commission. 🏛 ♻ 👷♀️ 👩💼  💬 "We all worked and talked together, adopting a very holistic approach. It's not just upzoning, funding, or stability—it's all three things," Kovacs explains. "We need a housing strategy that provides various solutions working across that spectrum." It's about addressing "the missing middle" in housing without necessarily losing the heritage. 💡 Stories like these remind us that even though institutional reform can seem like moving mountains, inviting everyone to the table, having committed people at the core of a movement, and working together to find solutions, can be a powerful catalyst for positive change. Let's learn from their success! #HousingCrisis #Unity #PositiveChange #Collaboration
