Master Performance Coach, Neuro Reconditioning Co-Founder, Human Performance Consultant, Host of Leave Your Mark, son of Lois, husband to Jaime, dad to Gretchen
Four years ago this week, the strangest period in our lifetimes began in North America. The pandemic was something no one of our generation had ever seen at this magnitude. It changed everything about our lives immediately, and the images of empty streets in Rome, Paris, London, and NYC were so out of context......most of us couldn't digest it. Like everyone else, our lives changed dramatically. Our business completely changed. We exited a partnership in a brick-and-mortar facility in the city, and we completely pivoted from the live presentation-style courses we had been doing since 2014 to a completely online program. We also had to pivot our International Hockey Performance Summit (IHPS). The picture accompanying this post is of the last course we ever did in person in the old format, held on this past weekend 4 years ago. All through the weekend we listened to the reports telling us that the world was about to come to a halt, and sure enough, Sunday evening as we wrapped up, we received notice that as of Monday morning, we were all in lockdown. It was a difficult time for everyone, but at the same time, it was an opportunity to move in directions that seemed challenging before the pandemic. Luckily we had been using Zoom for three years before the pandemic, and luckily we had recorded both our R1 Foundations course and our R2 Designs course, hoping one day we could run a hybrid learning program. Here we are four years later, and that's what we've been able to create. We now offer our courses as hybrid learning programs with the option to do a Case Study Laboratory In-Person, or Virtually Online. And we provide a Mastermind program completely Virtually to support ongoing learning. They say that luck is when preparation meets opportunity, and sometimes opportunity can be found in the face of great challenge. Our mission at Reconditioninghq.com is to empower movement professionals to navigate the grey area between rehabilitation and performance confidently. We want you to succeed! Chief Revenue Officer Lakeside Neurologic | Vice President Kids' Chance of Florida | Workers' Compensation | Traumatic Brain Injury | Model Systems Knowledge Translation Center (MSKTC) | National Speaker
As an Executive Board member of Kids' Chance of Florida, it is with a grateful and humble heart to partner with industry leaders like One Call, providing an employee-funded scholarship to Florida student Montse Gallegos. In August 2022, Montse’s father, a warehouse manager passed away due to injuries following a workplace accident. Later that year, Montse’s mother was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. On the heels of an extremely tragic year, the Kids’ Chance of Florida/One Call scholarship is enabling her to attend college without the added stress of tuition payments. “Workplace injuries affect the whole family,” said One Call CEO Jay Krueger. “While trying to overcome grief, families are also forced to deal with mounting financial pressures. We are sensitive to these burdensome situations, which is why we want to be a part of the solution. This scholarship provides the children of critically or fatally injured workers with a path forward. We are proud to play a small role in helping them attain a much brighter future.” Kids’ Chance of Florida is a state chapter of Kids’ Chance of America, a charitable organization that is dedicated to making a significant difference in the lives of all children affected by workplace injuries by helping them pursue and achieve their educational goals. Children of these workers can no longer count on the income of the injured or deceased parent. Accompanying the grief of loss, or the need to deal with an injured parent, is the increased likelihood that they cannot afford a college education. Since its founding in 1988, Kids' Chance of America has awarded more than 10,000 scholarships totaling more than $36 million.
