Our support is a huge vision and one that will be rolled out in phases over a 5 year period that will see an integrated system come together for anyone that has gone through DA. Without any doubt male victims are very much part of the vision, enabling them to receive a 360 degrees support service, no less than what a female victim would receive. One size does not meet all. Every case, every risk and needs differ, and as such assessments with programmes will be tailor-made for them. We are currently working on Phase 1. I'm in discussions with solicitors/barristers to prepare them for standby. This also includes defence to enable a victim/survivor who has crossed over into the justice system to get legal advice at the earliest opportunity. For example...57% of women in prison have endured DA.

In a significant development for victims’ rights and criminal justice, the Victims and Prisoners Bill has become law. This comprehensive legislation aims to address critical issues related to victims of crime, major incidents, and bereavement. The bill enhances the rights of victims within the criminal justice system and ensures they will receive fair treatment, improved support, and personalized guidance during challenging times. The appointment of specialist advocates also ensures victims have dedicated support. These advocates will assist victims in navigating legal processes, emotional trauma, and practical matters. The bill introduces reforms to the parole system including preventing life-term inmates from marrying and increasing ministerial oversight. Are you a victim or survivor of a crime that occurred in #Oklahoma? Will you help inform the MODERN Justice Taskforce by sharing your experience anonymously? In July, State of Oklahoma leaders developed the MODERN Justice taskforce to understand various criminal justice challenges within our state--and figure out how to address them with legislative, policy, and procedural change. The Crime and Justice Institute is one of the taskforce partners. They are helping gather data and information to ensure the work of the taskforce is most reflective of the needs of #Oklahomans. The purpose of this anonymous survey is to hear directly from crime survivors about their experiences and identify potential priorities for the Task Force to consider. Please feel free to share this link with others. The voices of those individuals most directly impacted by crime should be elevated in this task force process. The Crime and Justice Institute has also connected with formerly incarcerated individuals about their experiences. This is really disappointing. This guidance is primarily aimed at frontline staff in England and Wales who work with children, young people and vulnerable adults. It really doesn't provide any meaningful information with regard to adults. It looks as though the adult part was an after thought. The language within adult safeguarding was updated by the Care Act 2014, to adults at risk. The move away from the term vulnerable adults was due to the lack of clarity on what vulnerability meant. There is so much evidence in practice that adults with care and support needs are being criminally exploited. Sadly the adult who is are at risk (due to their care and support needs as defined by the Care Act 2014) are often criminalised or regarded as actively engaging or making unwise decisions. More guidance is required specifically about the risks to adults who are often hidden victims.
