Hello Community, On the mark of about 6 months at BNY Mellon, I would like to elaborate on how I have felt personally about the organisation during this brief tenure. When I started with Investment Operations in the UK, I went upfront to my line manager (the very first day) and told him that I was completely new to this segment and it might take a while for me to understand the organisation structure, its operations and where I fall in serving the company on delivering services. Max Maudsley and @Mark Hodgson had been supportive all these months to take time to answer all my questions about the systems, procedures, risks associated and assessments. With this dynamically changing world, I believe change is evident, from business operating models to business processes. I at BNY Mellon want to support the three strategic pillars: 1. Run our Company Better, 2. Power our Culture, and 3. Be more for our Clients. By continuously working towards engaging innovation in our systems, BNY has strategically partnered with Microsoft to help make operations better in many points where resilience against risks can be managed better to overcome market disruptions not only from our learnings from the past but also with a vision towards the future. Completed 7 years (thalla fan for a reason 😉) with BNY Mellon International Operations (India) Private Ltd. It's been an incredible journey filled with challenges, growth and most importantly, the support and collaboration of an amazing team. Top 5 things that I learned during this Journey. 1) Pressure is a privilege. It only comes to those who earn it. 👑 2) Take one day at a time. Just like trekking keep the top of the mountain as a vision in front and just navigate your efforts towards it on a daily basis. 🧭 3) Don't hesitate to take up new challenges. When I entered the corporate world many years back, one thing became very clear to me early on... I wasn't prepared for the onslaught of what I encountered during my initial foray into the industry at Barclays Investment Bank. Where do you learn the following? -           How to contend with office politics -           How to navigate organizational hierarchy effectively -           What to do when you don't see eye to eye with your manager -           How to build your brand in the workplace so you can be noticed -           How to prepare appropriately for performance reviews As much as I loved my experience at Questrom School of Business, Boston University, this was not part of the curriculum nor taught when I was onboarded at Barclays. The reality is that you learn things the hard way while on the job. It took me many years to learn and adapt, but I wish I had someone or resources to help me navigate all this when I began my career. To that end, Kasia Siwosz and I are taking our 35 years of experience in the investment banking space and pouring all our knowledge into learning experiences to help serve the next generation of Wall Streeters for a more seamless assimilation to an ultra-competitive industry.
