If I had a dollar... This sentiment is part of why I wanted to get into a recruiting as an engineer. People have asked "Why did you switch sides" (as in recruiters are on the other side of developers) but the main reason is because Software Developers /Engineers are represented so badly to non-technical people. See, when you are a recruiter who was an engineers (and dare I say, I still am) I can look at someone's profile, speak to them and know exactly how to present their best strengths to the hiring manager. And, as the hiring manager, you won't see these types of canned, forced responses because we know why we reached out to them and why the'd be a great fit for you team.
