I had the pleasure to have attended my first CIvil Military Coordination courses in Barcelona, run by Josef Reiterer, back in 2003. 21 years later Josef is still crafting fantastic learning opportunities and promoting the vital importance of Humanitarian Civil Military Coordination. He is a legend in the sector!!!

8moExcellent to see the course in play and there’s an excellent CM-Coord in theatre here in South Sudan! What I might highlight to anyone that is prepared to listen is that the S9, G9, & U9 roles here on UNMISS don’t require an in person CIMIC or CMCoord course before assuming role… so the mil side are not necessarily as trained and aware as the civ side. Room for improvement and better pre-requisites.
