How can Producer Responsibility Organisations (PROs) plan strategically for PPWR and optimise flexible packaging to meet plastics recycling targets? Today, CEFLEX and PROs are hosting a workshop to explore a wide range of research and analysis from along the supply chain. 🎯 The objective: openly share packaging insights to help make the most of materials entering sorting centers - today and over the next 5-10 years. 📊 Data on flexibles - and rigids - in household waste streams, sorting and recycling testing and end market analysis for recycled polymers are all on the menu for participating PROs to explore and use to optimise in a quest to boost circularity and activate PPWR implementation. 🔄 In RECYCLING, like in COOKING, it’s all about the SECRET INGREDIENTS! 🔀 Due to strong demand and lack of available post-industrial recycled (PIR) or post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials, many players dealing with mechanical recycling have begun using previously rejected or challenging PIR or PCR waste streams, such as mixed polyolefins, highly contaminated polyolefins, or flexible multi-layer packaging. To be able to use these, companies are getting creative… they are improving machinery and adding new ingredients to help deal with difficult waste! ☑️ Acti-Tech™ compatibilizer from NGC, Opti-Flex™ TPO and Opti-Soft™ TPE from Customized Compound Solutions A/S (CCS) are ideal ingredients to compatibilize mixed polymers from in-house recycling, PIR or PCR, enabling the use of these recycled plastics into existing products without lowering end-properties. You can find out more about their properties and what they can do for the recycling industry in the PDF below! #recycling #mixedpolymerstreams #pir #pcr

The Healthcare Plastics Recycling Council (HPRC) announced today the release of its Guiding Principles on Advanced Recycling, marking a significant stride in its ongoing efforts to evaluate applicability and effectiveness of advanced recycling technologies in creating a circular plastics economy for the healthcare industry. “Since 2020, HPRC has been exploring different advanced recycling technologies to educate ourselves and to determine if advanced recycling can assist in creating a circular economy for healthcare plastics, namely flexible and multi-laminate plastics that are not ideal for mechanical recycling processes,” shared Peylina Chu, Executive Director of HPRC. The document delineates five guiding principles when considering the use of advanced recycling technologies for healthcare plastics. NPE 2024: A Resounding Success for TSM with PCR Solutions for the North American Market! We are excited to share that NPE 2024 was a resounding success for TSM Control Systems! This premier plastics show, returning after six years, provided the perfect platform to showcase our innovative solutions and engage in meaningful conversations with industry leaders. A key highlight was the introduction of our Opti-Flake PCR solution, designed to enhance sustainability and efficiency in manufacturing. The growing interest in Post-Consumer Recyclates (PCR) was evident, as businesses strive to reduce their environmental impact and promote a circular economy. 👉 Read more about our success and the importance of PCR: https://lnkd.in/ezkQf9-H #NPE2024 #TSMControlSystems #Sustainability #PCRSolutions #OptiFlake #PlasticsIndustry #CircularEconomy #Innovation #SustainableManufacturing

Research conducted by #CEFLEX and Resource Futures is providing valuable data to understand the collection, sorting and recycling infrastructure needed in each country >>> A multi-country compositional analysis to research the type and amount of flexible packaging and rigid plastic packaging in the post-consumer waste stream has been conducted in four countries (UK, the Netherlands, Germany and France), to establish a detailed picture of how material flows through the system and better target steps to increase circularity... A few highlights from the flexible packaging analysis 👉 https://lnkd.in/eeEmKdat Lots of short-term gains to be made 💪 and (more) clearly identifiable mountains to climb on our journey ⭕ Combined with CEFLEX analysis and collected data on place on market, end market applications, recycling capacities and recycling technologies, the #MissionCircular vision is well informed to push forward! #MissionCircular #FlexiblePackaging

Resource Futures is pleased to have worked with CEFLEX - A Circular Economy for Flexible Packaging to deliver the multicountry composition analysis. The study opens up a new comparable data set between nations. In the UK flexible plastic packaging in particular has long been overlooked for recycling, the work shows quite a difference compared to other study countries with more established systems to recycle flexibles. - The unique composition analysis used a granular and consistent approach across the countries. - Data is much needed right across the value chain, as well as informing EPR discussions the work supports focus on key areas for making improvements to packaging circularity and design - The study supports the wider work of CEFLEX around collection, handling and sort infrastructure #circularplastic #flexibles #packaging #plasticpackaging #MissionCircular #FlexiblePackaging

It is publicly reported that the amount of packaging waste in 1950 was around zero but this number was rapidly increased nearly 200 times in 2020, which makes packaging industry one of the global primary plastics waste generation. Still need a lot of efforts to raise the percentage of mono films in the recycling stream 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 #CEFLEX #FlexiblePackaging #SustainablePackaging
