I recently had the opportunity to present a round table for a closed group of world class business leaders who need to operate in high-stress / high-stakes environment for months and years. In their generosity the team at B-LD Kitchen has made some of these round tables accessible to the broader community and the link to all of these is in the post below. There are some awesome resources there and are worth checking out! One of the series they have made available is the conversation I had with their members. Even better, they've condensed some of the nuggets (their assessment; not mine!!) into a short 7 minute clip so you don't need to sit through the hour! Often when we talk about performance in high-pressure / high-stakes environments we focus on "Go Time"; but we can forget about the things we need to do to ensure we can CONTINUE operating in these environments over months and years. If you get this right you can keep excelling and doing the big and difficult things that many rely on you for, for years. The alternative can lead to burnout, parasympathetic backlash, poor or even unethical decision making, costly business errors, human lives and cost critical relationships. We talk about that from 46 seconds in. Those that know me well know I push back on the difference between "breathwork" and breathing.... if you want to understand the difference take a listen from about 2:20. We talk about why the 2-5 minutes of "breathwork" you might do isn't as effective as optimising the other 15-20,000 breaths you'll do that day..... One of the performance philosophies I work from is "Don't fix broken; create awesome". If you want to understand what I mean scroll forward to about minute 4.15! Reflecting on our dynamic insights session…     We brought brands and industry colleagues together at Outernet London to explore the risks of underestimating the power of live experiences in maintaining a brand’s cultural relevance.       Our Managing Director, Louisa O'Connor was joined by Natalie Duvall and Clara Biu in a dynamic panel discussion, hosted by our Client Services Director, Natasha Broady where they shared key learnings and tips on how to maximise ROI in a challenging brand landscape.      Insights revealed that cultural relevance is driven by live experiences that:      ➡️  Fuel authenticity to build TRUST - 70% of consumers say they would spend more with authentic brands     ➡️  Cultivate community to build CONNECTION       ➡️  Stimulate emotion to build MEMORIES - 80% of UK and US consumers find that physical experiences create more lasting memories compared to physical products    Most importantly, culturally relevant brands are 2.6 times more likely to experience profit growth. As we conclude the festive season, I found unexpected inspiration in Disney's "Wish" during a family outing to the movies. What initially seemed like just another children's Christmas film unfolded into a narrative rich with timely messages for the new year ahead. Two themes struck a chord: 1️⃣ Nurture Your Heart's Desires: Each of us holds the key to manifesting our aspirations. It's our individual responsibility to turn them into reality. 2️⃣ Strength in Unity: When faced with daunting challenges or formidable adversaries, unity becomes our greatest asset. Together, we become an unbreakable force. Though not entirely novel, these messages remain pertinent. For our Global Employer Branding Project, I'm taking away the following adjectives: united, courageous, and heartfelt. Hirschvogel has embarked on a journey to actively shape the future of mobility.
