Stardust Speedway's fancy reflection raster effect is now running on the Sega #Dreamcast, in the upcoming port of #Sonic Mania, thanks to Michael Fadely! He's distorting the vertices of PVR hardware sprites and letting the GPU interpolate individual pixel values! The footage on the left is without the raster effects--essentially rippling on a per-tile basis. The right is with the new effect enabled. Both are captured from actual DC hardware! NOTE: Yeah, we need to set the PVR's background fill-color to match the environment on the right still, so you don't see the light blue background showing through. lol. #gamedev #indiegame #regrogaming #cpp

Didn’t expect this quality of sim on a gpu. Been playing around with Embergen for a day and quite surprised with the capabilities and speed. This is simulated in 1 billion voxel grid (3x upscale). Four years ago, I began on a passion project called Replica, creating a short film entirely in Unreal Engine. Despite being sidelined for other projects, I believe it's crucial to remind ourselves of our passion for the art form by working on personal projects. I am hoping I can one day see this film completed. Hey guys, glad to share my latest personal project “FURY BEAST”. *please watch in FULL QUALITY with SOUND. I’m obsessed with big scale FX work and this time i decided to make a complete project so i had much fun doing the following: -stitching 10 different animation clips from “Mixamo” to create the whole action. -simulating RBD destruction and characters dust interaction using my dear friend Houdini . -simulating building’s main dust using the amazing and worth buying( Axiom solver). -I didn’t spend much time creating the environment and doing the layout as the main focus was on FX. -Look Dev and rendering. -Deep compositing and color grading using Nuke (Foundry was kind enough to support VFX artists after the strike with 3 months trial license don't miss it ;). -creating sound track using around 40 sound clips. All of this is done within 30 days on a single workstation including machine time for simulation and rendering.
