Yesterday I shared how a client has is making the move to leave a well paid secure job to go Full Time with her business in CONFIDENCE & FAITH. Let’s break down the reality of it. We worked together for 15 months. For some this may be a short time others it might be a long time. The question I ask all of my clients is, “If you were guaranteed to have all you every dreamed of in 2 years, would you be in such a hurry?” In a fast paced world it pays to take things slow. It wasn’t a simmer all the way. During that time; 🔥 Client A purchased a dream car. 🔥 Doubled her business revenue. 🔥 Signed on 9 new clients in ONE Day. 🔥 Experienced massive personal and business growth. When it comes to making moves like this my clients know; 👉It's illogical for them to remain where they are. 👉They know it’s not what they want. 👉They also understand it’s not about the ‘next’ strategy. 👉 It is deep within them. When I was starting out my current business, I was very naive. When I asked people for follow-up appointments, they said to me, "We are so busy. We will let you know next time." When I was told this, I thought to myself that they are just busy. There are great chances to set up appointments in the future. Do you know what happened for most of those people whom I spoke to? I called them so many times but no reply. I asked them for the next meeting when we had occasion to meet at a certain event, still busy. After a while, I realized what they are actually saying is, "This is not important enough for me to set up time to talk to you." I had personal experience in this. When I started real estate investing back in 2009, I was still comfortable in the company that I worked for. Whenever somebody tried to help me to get me moving faster for real estate (Out of their care) so that I could achieve my goal faster, I always said, "I am so busy doing ... Let me work at my own pace." (Now, I feel very sorry for them because they did really try to help me but I did not respond) Translation of what I said was, I am so busy = I do not care enough to make real estate a priority... Result? It did not get anywhere; losing money and time and no progress... Until my life changed during the year of 2013, due to work situation change (My boss, work hours etc), I was no longer comfortable. In fact, I was desperate. Suddenly, quitting my job became top priority. That was the time when I started my current business. This time, I was completely different from 2009, whatever my mentors asked me to do, I did it, never made any excuses. I made 100% of my time doing this business because quitting my job became really important to me. During this time, I made decision that "I would do ANYTHING to quit my job." Believe me, people will make time for the things that are really important to them. I will end with what Jim Rohn said, "If it is important enough to you, you will find a way. I almost quit my business because of one nasty comment. Early on, I landed a big client. I was thrilled. But after presenting my first campaign, they tore it apart. "This is amateur work," they said. "We need a real expert." Those words crushed me. I spent days doubting every decision I'd ever made. I was ready to give up and go back to my old job. Then I remembered why I started this journey. I thought of the small businesses I'd already helped. The lives I'd impacted. I realized one person's opinion doesn't define my worth or my skills. Instead of quitting, I dug deeper. I improved my work. I found clients who valued my expertise. Now, negative feedback doesn't shake me. It fuels me to get better. Remember, self-doubt is normal. But don't let it stop you. I quit my 20-year career to start my own business. Honestly, the scariest decision I’ve ever made… Don’t get me wrong, I loved my job: ✈️ Travelling the world 💰 6 fig salary + benefits 🎤 Seniority with a FTSE 5 client But recently, I turned 40. I find milestone birthdays are good time reflect and honestly… I couldn’t see myself doing the same for the next 25 years. I needed a new challenge. And I’ll tell you for free; challenge is a nice way of putting it 🤣 Since I started this business, I’ve had to: - Experience being a beginner again - Build skills that are completely new to me - Get way more comfortable with failure I had what most people would consider a top-flight career. But I found climbing corporate quite easy compared to running a solo business 🤔 Still, despite the challenge, I’m glad I made this decision. If you’re faced with a similar one (whether it’s to start a business, get a new job, go for a promotion, etc). Try thinking it through like this: 1. If you don’t go for it, you’ll probably regret it 2. If it doesn’t work out, you’ll probably regret it But which one will you regret more? Whichever it is - choose that one!

Last month I celebrated my first business birthday. It was a risk quitting my stable contract last year but I'm so happy I made the leap. The first year was all about 'suck it and see'. Working it out, seeing what worked and what didn't. Here are some lessons I've learnt about going out on your own: 💫 Tell everyone what you're doing. You never know what leads might generate out of this. 💫 One size fee does not fit all. 💫 Have a plan but being flexible is essential. 💫 The word 'no' isn't a personal attack. Don't dwell on it, and move on to the next opportunity. 💫 Find your business buddies (essential if you're working by yourself!). They'll advise, encourage and be a shoulder to cry on. 💫 Setting your boundaries is much easier when you work for yourself. 💫 Trusting my gut more! 💫 Done is better than perfect. Who knows what my second year of business holds, but I want to focus on investing in myself a bit more and do some training. I've had the opportunity to work with a some fantastic people and work with some really exciting businesses, and I'm still here to tell the tale. It takes an unwavering faith and belief in yourself A few months ago, I found myself at a crossroads. I was thriving in my role as a Success Advisor in IT, helping others break into the industry and upskill their careers. Then, out of nowhere, I got laid off. Suddenly, everything I knew, everything I had built my professional identity around, was stripped away. I was left with one critical decision: Do I play it safe and stick to what I know? Or do I trust myself enough to dive into the unknown? I chose the latter. I jumped into the commercial industrial roofing industry—an area where I knew very little. The truth is, it’s terrifying. I question myself daily. But here's the deal: when you’re backed into a corner, your instinct kicks in. You must trust that the skills, experience, and resilience you’ve built up will carry you through. And then something incredible happened. Someone believed in me when others did not. They saw potential where I saw uncertainty. They reminded me that my worth wasn't tied to one industry or one role. Transitioning into this unfamiliar territory, I learned that the biggest asset I had was not the knowledge of the field, but an unwavering faith and belief in myself. It’s the same belief that helped me succeed in IT, and it’s the same belief driving me forward now in roofing. Find Your Believers: Seek out those who see your potential, even when you’re struggling to see it yourself. Their belief can be the catalyst for your next big leap. Career Charles Munger, investor and co-chair of Berkshire Hathaway, passed away last November, a few days before his 100th birthday. Munger was famous for his sharp wit (and sharp tongue). Many quotes are on the web. The following I found most insightful. When asked about career advices Munger said: 1. Don’t sell anything you wouldn’t buy yourself. 2. Don’t work for anyone you don’t respect and admire. 3. Work only with people you enjoy. Pretty simple rules. But I suspect many of us fall short. It is a new year.
