I am in Phoenix at 2024 IADLEST Conference. I am blessed to still be able to give back & hopefully make a positive impact for law enforcement & communities. I am amongst some very esteemed company with trainers from all over the world. I hope I can keep pace! This year’s attendance is nearly 500 with officers & officials from 25 countries! Proud to be an IDALEST member. Grateful to be here representing #IACP and the Elevate Blue training suite. Be well, stay safe, strive for life & learning!

I am extremely fortunate that I have been able to continue to contribute to strengthen the relationships between law enforcement & the communities they serve. The IACP Elevate Blue project is one of the highlights of my post-police career. This training is designed to enhance officers skills & officer safety and wellness. It was an honor to share the dias with Jonathan Morris and Eric Drifmeyer. Best of all, Elevate Blue is both best practices, evidenced based and free! As I have said before, I consider myself very lucky & blessed by the opportunities that have allowed me to continue to give back and contribute to our communities and my beloved previous profession. Police Week is near and dear to my heart, simultaneously filling it with pride in my profession and profound sadness for the families, friends, agencies and communities of the men and women who sacrificed themselves for community safety. It is important and morally right to honor these officers/deputies/troopers who made the ultimate sacrifice; Their efforts to protect and serve must be acknowledged and our gratitude for them proclaimed. This week, we honor those who exemplified the calling that is law enforcement. We tell their families that we love them and recognize their pain. This week, we express gratitude for the brave who have dedicated their life to protect and serve; we honor them and their sacrifices. This week, we raise awareness of the challenges and dangers our officers face and we call for violence against them to stop. We hope that this time of remembrance will help strengthen our bonds and unite us all behind the rule of law for our communities and our nation. With remembrance and unity, we can stop the violence and lower the numbers of officers who die in the service of others. God Bless you all. 

May is mental health awareness month and anyone who knows me knows that officer safety and wellbeing and positive strides for improving the lives of those with mental health issues has been a hallmark of my law enforcement career. It seems like the right moment in time to officially announce that I have accepted the position as president of the NAMI Florida Board of Directors. NAMI FL is the State branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and helps the local affiliates with getting the programs, training, education and advocacy they need to be effective in improving the lives of persons with mental illnesses and their families in their local affiliate community. I am most honored that the rest of the esteemed NAMI FL Board of Directors saw fit to have me as their president and I will continue to do what I have since arriving in Sarasota, try to effectively help one of our most vulnerable and misunderstood populations to lead a full and fulfilling life - whatever that may look like. Unlike local affiliates, NAMI FL does not have a core location and a set of volunteers, nor a steady stream of funding. If you have the time, the inclination and or the resources to help, please support NAMI Florida, so we can continue on our mission to improve the quality of life of individuals and their families affected by mental health conditions through education, support or advocacy. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis please reach out for help, call 9-8-8 or go to NAMI for resources to help you navigate through the situation or to better understand what is going on with you or your loved one. The Professionalizing Law Enforcement-Community Engagement Training conference for 2024 is in the books! I want to thank Movement Forward’s Reverend Markel Hutchinson & Jared Feuer for inviting me to be a part of this event. There were over 1600 attendees before I stopped counting! An extra special thank you goes to my co-presenters / panelists Deputy Commissioner Monique Brown of the Baltimore Police Department and Dimitrios Mastoras of Safe Night. Our presentation was pretty seamless, well attended and initial reviews state we were good value & engaging. It is always nice to make new friends. Thank you. Here’s to #Plecet2025
