The Texas Department of Transportation contracted Geocomp to resolve the asymmetry of the Fred Hartman Bridge in Texas and implement an overall system that would evaluate the structural conditions. Geocomp - GeoTesting Express installed S-lynks wireless sensing system on the bridge to determine the global behavior of the structure and characterize the performance of the cables and dampeners through the use of Operational Modal Analysis (OMA). The system was deployed on the twin-deck cable-stayed bridge's main span, towers, and cables. With the installation of Sercel's S-lynks product, data collection was completed without needing external excitation. It produced quick visualization/animation of the torsional behavior of the deck and towers and estimated forces and overall damping of stay cables.
