Dr. Anitha John and colleagues at several partner institutions have been approved for $2.1 million in Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) #ResearchFunding for Achieving Equity: Inclusion of Adults with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) Living with Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDDs) in Patient Centered Outcomes Research. This research will investigate how to ensure the experiences of this vulnerable population are captured in studies of long-term outcomes. Congenital Heart Initiative

One of our studies “The Effect of Triumf Game on Psychological Well-being and Quality of Life among Pediatric Patients” assessed Triumf's impact on the well-being of pediatric cancer patients aged 7-12. The results? After a 60-day intervention period, we observed notable improvements in both psychological well-being and physical health. Children grappling with chronic illnesses, such as pediatric cancer, often confront profound mental health challenges and lack adequate psychological support. The CHIMES trial is the first phase IV clinical trial focusing exclusively on Black and Hispanics living with #multiplesclerosis (#MS). Not only did this study reveal key details about the disease burden of MS in this patient population, but it also provides an example of how the cycle of health inequity in research efforts can be broken.
