A client recently asked for a 241 deal on a placement. The point was: “We only initially needed one person, but have ended up taking two of your candidates, so we’d like to just pay one fee.” They furthered their point with:   "You weren’t expecting a second placement fee. It has been less work for you as you weren’t searching for a different skillset." It was an interesting conversation I have to say! I know my answer, my reasoning and value behind what I do. I got placed in a Big4 on Day 0, but here's someone who can help you with placements 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐞. August of 2023, I sat for placements for the first time and fortunately, I got placed in my very first attempt. I had prepped for about a fortnight for all the rounds, and a lot of things worked in my favour throughout the process. However, if you are sitting for placements in the upcoming semester, a certain someone can help you more than me. Who? The ones who got rejected several times before getting placed. Why? Because I might tell you what things might work in your favour but a person who has gotten rejected will tell you exactly what not to do. All my friends who got placed after multiple attempts had improved each time in every round. They know exactly where the mistakes happen, so reach out to your seniors when you're prepping, be it for your aptitude tests, group discussions or interview. Trust me, you can tread the placement season way smoothly if you learn from the mistakes that you haven't committed. 27 days to kick-off to signed offer is incredibly impressive. We'll announce the exciting placement in the coming weeks but in the meantime, major shoutout to Jake Braunscheidel for driving this search home faster than a speeding bullet ⏱ The reason this took less than 4 weeks really boils down to a few reasons: 1) Functional expertise: We specialize in GTM and have done hundreds of sales placements, so when this client asked us to find a Founding Account Executive for their growing team, we knew exactly where to start from a functional standpoint. 2) Stage expertise: This company was a sub $10M, VC-backed growth company, so their needs in this role were similar to most of the other growing/scaling companies we are used to partnering with. It took us no time to fully understand the type of candidate that was needed for this company at this particular time. 3) Husk's dedication: We take on limited amount of searches per recruiter and always have a team of Partner/Director on every project, no matter the role. You get 2-3 experts together and it's no wonder we can turn searches over so quickly 🚄

Am I insane for thinking about making our new 2 Year Guarantee retroactive?? I might be but I can't stop thinking about it. When we decided to launch the best guarantee in the recruiting industry, the plan was that it would be on placements moving forward. But that feels like a shitty message to clients we worked with 1 month ago, 3 months ago, etc.... "Sorry, you just missed it" doesn't align to our core values and isn't a message I want to have to deliver. So I'm in a tricky spot and I need feedback. If I do extend to past placements, where is the line? It it 1 year? Is it all the way back to 2 years? What if we helped a client make a hire 18 months ago and that person decided to leave at the 16 month mark - is that included and we're on the hook for a replacement? I'm strongly leaning toward "all of the above". I've asked several peers in my world and the consistent feedback is "that's crazy, you can't go backward like that and cover past work, especially people who have already left before their 2 year anniversary". I can't help but think "why the hell not?!". I can't imagine a better relationship builder and a better demonstration of HubSearch standing behind our work. Our relationships with our clients is everything. (obviously we love our candidates too 😍). I would definitely be signing us up for extra work, but I think I'm OK with that and I think it will be time extremely well spent. So what do you think - is this a crazy idea? I've never heard of another professional services org doing something like...and maybe for good reason. Give me a sanity check.
