Lambs grow up to be Rams or Ewes. Rams can be very aggressive and have been known to cause serious injuries. Rams function as both protection and leadership, and in the wild, the Rams are responsible for fending off predators. Among Ewes, high-ranking females will challenge a predator to protect the herd or their lambs. They will stomp the ground, kick, bite, and attack with horns if they have them! SAFA might regard the general populace as sheep. But among the herd are Rams and Ewes, protective, and infinitely harder to silence or control than a lamb. The effect on ordinary people's lives, their dreams and aspirations, who don't have a voice, deprived by an organisation that looks increasingly dodge by the day. I'll be watching the show. Around this time of year our #SportBroadcast post-grad students, from the outgoing cohort, start releasing their final project documentaries to the public. We ask them to make a 15minute sports documentary for their dissertation, and once they’ve handed in their films & had them marked, we encourage them to post their films on you tube, to put themselves & their work out there. The documentary they produce is hopefully (if they’ve been concentrating!) a culmination of all their skills learnt on the course; filming, gathering & organising content, video editing, storyboarding, storytelling, researching, fixing contributors, interviewing, sourcing archive, choosing locations, lighting, creating graphics, writing scripts, editing sound & working to a duration & a deadline. Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing student work on here. Please take a look if you’ve time, and, if you like the films, let the students know, give them feedback; positive, negative, constructive. They need it. Be gentle, this is the first piece of long form content they have ever created. They are at the start of their careers, they are looking for work. Talking of work, my work is done, they are all yours now!
