At Saint Mary's, we create opportunities for our students, staff, and faculty to give back to the community and exercise wise leadership. One of our volunteer opportunities is writing encouraging letters to young patients in hospitals, through the organization Letters of Love: https://lnkd.in/eusQJ448 #wiseleadership #charactereducation #characterandvirtueeducation

"The best way to preserve democracy is to teach democracy." At the Civics Learning Project, this statement is core to our mission, preparing students to become active, engaged, and informed participants in our democratic society. Looking at the current level of political debate and rhetoric, this mission has never been more important. There are many ways to support this mission: - You can sign up to volunteer (https://lnkd.in/gsr9Nj-A) at one of the many events CLP organizes. You don't need to have any legal training to do so, and you will get blown away by how prepared the students are. - You can donate (https://lnkd.in/gUR5EaE6) to help CLP reach more students and to continue improving our programs. - Learn and talk about the organization as a concrete way to act when you feel helpless about the current political landscape! #civics #democracy #education https://lnkd.in/gvqsFWh6

I’m not being a hater. Let’s have a serious discussion: Why does any Institution of Higher Education feel that having alums who are delegates to a Political Convention is newsworthy? THERE IS NO PURPOSE! That university is trying to engage in DEMOCRAT PARTY GOTV efforts. Their federal funding should be CUT! There are probably 50 Carolina alums who are delegates. A&T has several delegates and you don’t see their University promoting such a common occurrence. I encourage the Administration at NCCU to stay out of politics and focus on fundraising (which last I read, was quite pathetic). Get some of your alums to stop buying BMWs and give you $100 and perhaps we wouldn’t have to utilize so much of our tax dollars on landscaping over in Durham. Black Institutions must stop playing SMALL BALL. This type of BUSHLEAGUE activity is why Blacks as myself, who took Honors and AP courses and excelled DO NOT EVEN APPLY TO THESE SCHOOLS. #GlorifiedHighSchoolers #PoliticallyCHEAPpeople 🤦
#NCCUCommunity | NCCU rising senior Devin Freeman and alumnus Durham Mayor Leo Williams have been selected as delegates for the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Freeman and Williams are first-time delegates. | #WherePurposeTakesFlight #EaglePride #NCCUAlumni #NCCU25 | READ MORE: https://lnkd.in/ejM-Ep9z

This looks a great training for anyone working with youth! Designed with research and policy advocacy in mind, "Disrupting Adultism: Building Authentic Youth Coalitions" training will delve into the concept of adultism, exploring its implications and how it can inadvertently create barriers in youth engagement. More importantly, we will discuss strategies to disrupt these patterns in order to foster an environment that truly values and incorporates youth perspectives. We will explore strategies to foster genuine partnerships with young people, enabling them to become active participants in decision-making processes. By the end of this training, participants will have an introduction to the knowledge and tools needed to build authentic youth coalitions, ensuring that our future leaders are not just seen, but heard, respected, and actively involved in shaping the world around them. https://lnkd.in/gTp5Ppmp

Do you best! As mentioned yesterday, this is the first step of a 4-step procedure which works really well for us towards achieving our main aim - promoting excellence in schools. As simple as it sounds, doing your best is not always easy. Especially for those leading independent schools. So, we have published a post about it on our company blog. Take a look: https://lnkd.in/eYYy_BXR #Headteachers, #schoolleaders and proprietors of non-association #independentschools

The more we raise awareness of human trafficking, the less it stays hidden. The less it stays hidden, the quicker we can end it. How can you help spread awareness in your networks? A21.org/Australia
Education and awareness are vital tools in the fight against human trafficking, and we are truly thankful for our partnership with schools and teachers. By equipping students with knowledge and empowering them to take a stand, we are working towards abolishing slavery. Partnership is essential in every sector of society, regardless of age. If you would like an A21 representative to share at your school, business, church or other network, head to A21.org/Australia.
