A candidate applies for a role on Monday. We discussed the role on Tuesday, and now he has 2 further interviews scheduled for Wednesday. He Had his final interview on Friday and got the offer next Monday. Why can't all companies work like this? Post a job. Talk with the candidate. Schedule 2-3 more conversations with different people. Take a decision. Make an offer. You don't need 7 conversations and 2 tests over 2 months to make a decision. Stop overcomplicating the hiring process.

I remember a company (A) so wanted to work for, they had my 1st round, I followed up on the results and got no reply. There were other interviews planned for different companies. After 7 days i received an autogenerated mail from the company A that "they are preferring other candidates over me" Meanwhile I gave a final round of another company (B) and this one released an offer letter with joining within a day as I was an immediate joiner. And I joined company B the very next day. On the day of joining HR from company A calls up and says you have cleared 1st round let's have a 2nd round now. And when I mentioned the autogenerated email she says "It could have been a system generated error or sent via mistake" . I refused to pursue the rounds further. My point is Why can't HRs be proactive and especially when the candidate is inquiring about the result themselves, all you gotta do is to reply or commit a timeline. And when people say HRs do nothing they take offence. And company C, had all rounds, now the da money talk came, was out of budget , The HR mgr said would revert in 2 days. The legend is that the Head HR is still taking budget confirmation and will continue to do so till eternity because I never received that call.

I was contacted by an employee on LinkedIn, he asked me to share resume, I did that. He and his manager did exploratory call, asked me to switch on the video and they didn't. They told me they will share an assignment and on that basis they will take it further. Now they say your profile is on hold without even giving me assignment to do. It is that dirty in hiring space.

I would like to share my experience that I had with different recruiters in the past 2 months. They call you with reference to your application and schedule interviews. I had 4 levels of interviews including one with the VP which lasted for almost 1 and half months After all this I never got a call back from the HR team. I sent several follow up emails and never got a reply. I called the HR and got to know that the hiring process for the position is on hold. This happened with another company as well. So if you really want to put the hiring on hold, why do you schedule interviews and give false hopes to the candidates? In case, if not selected you could at least send a rejection mail. Searching for a job is exhausting. But why do people want to make it even worse?

More than 1 #Interview is already a red flag. It's a sign of an incompetent hiring process. Don't waste candidate's time. If a candidate is asked to attend 3-4 separate interviews in a week, they should #withdraw the application. It's flat out #disrespectful to assume that kind of commitment.

Reality is TA/Agency work on multiple roles and liaise with various hiring managers simultaneously. These hiring managers have other real world responsibilities too - KPI’s, travels, meetings, budgets, deadlines etc. In order of priority hiring comes last as they need to save their livelihood first and then think about hiring. A headcount is a financial burden and yet a necessary evil for organisations. They can’t do without it. They wanna grow yet it’s a additional cost. There are multiple factors, dynamics and players. I reckon the OP has never had the good fortune of being involved in a hiring process. Hence he’s unaware of the complexity of the process. As they say ignorance is bliss. And whatever it takes to garner likes 👍

My worst experience (2022) with a reputed organisation: 01. HR reached out to me for a project manager role with remote work (wasn’t key factor for me), budget (was satisfactory). 02. Had a primary discussion call with HR. 03. We agreed that they will give me an assignment and to be submitted in three working days. 04. Took them 5 days to provide an assignment which was given on Friday 7 pm with demand to submit it by Monday 12.00 pm. 05. Completed the assignment and submitted on Sunday itself. 06. Received call on Wednesday asking why I haven’t submitted the assignment. 07. Had to give subject line of the email to prove I have submitted it before time. 08. On next Friday gets a call from them about assignment approval and soon they will schedule an interview with “managers”. 09. Two weeks passes by and nothing happens. 10. I took followup mail to see if application is in progress or not. 11. After two or three days later got call from HR to check for available time for the interview. 12. Interview gets scheduled for a timeslot. No one shows up on the call. HR conveys me after 30 minutes that the manager is busy and we are rescheduling. Same thing happens next reschedule.

At times, I face a situation where I successfully clear all the interview rounds, including technical, manager, and HR, and assume that everything is progressing well. However, the HR team calls to inform me that I cannot proceed to the next step as I have a gap in my education. This confuses me as I wonder why they shortlisted me based on my skills and experience, knowing that my education gap would be an issue later. I sometimes try to explain the reason behind the gap, but they assure me that it does not matter as they need a skilled and experienced candidate. This experience leaves me feeling regretful and completely disrupts my routine interview preparation. #MNCCOMPANIES #sapinterviewexperience #sapjobs #SAPinterviewchallenges #challengesfacinginterview

1. They cant accept a 90 days notice period employees. 2. Strategy regarding manipulating CTC by including useless components and calling it a HIKE. 3. Search for alternate candidate who can work more for less / join immediately. 4. Look for a specialised candidate (1st attempt CA / AIR / MBA from Tier 1 Institute / IIT / Top Colleges) 5. Look for someone who knows flawless English and can communicate well. These 5 points largely drive hiring decisions nowadays.

Even always as the one being interviewed, I understand that it can't almost never be that simple. First of all, it's almost certain that you will not find the best fit for the position in a couple days. Second, the interviewer, the people who are in charge of screening, and the interviewee all have their schedule and need time to arrange themselves. The number or steps in the process also is a variable not so simple, it will depend on the role. More technical, more need to make sure the person is good enough.

Let's talk about overcomplicating, and frustrating hiring experiences! 😫 It's inconsiderate for hiring teams to request tests/case studies from candidates, only to inform them the role is filled before presentations. If candidates invest their time and effort, they deserve the courtesy of a proper interview process, regardless of the hiring timeline. This approach reflects poorly on the company's respect for candidates' time. #RespectTheCandidate #HiringTransparency
