A person that you might not necessarily think of as"dynamic"... but after a little bit, you would find out just how dynamic he really was. He served the company well. I still reflect on his quote - "Everything we have is for sale, including my desk" - His name resides in our family room - on the Chiairman's Award I received from him. - A loss for sure.

Mr Derr was CEO when I joined Chevron in January 1988. My sympathy and condolences to his family.

Ken endorsed the creation of the Chevron Ombuds program back in the 1980s. He also pushed for the STEPS process (Steps To Employee Problem Solutions) which was an internal employee dispute process. These internal programs made a difference for Chevron employees and I am grateful to have been a part of these employee focused programs. He was a great leader who cared about the employees. God bless Ken and condolences to his family.

I remember Ken being asked during a televised company town hall (circa 1989-90) if Chevron was for sale. His response was classic. “For the right price, even this desk I am sitting at is for sale”. He guided the company through some interesting times. Sorry to hear he has passed.
