With the ZEEKR极氪 IPO debut today, I am sharing my perspective, as previously published in Forbes via Forbes Communications Council on why getting the company story ready early is essential for companies raising capital or eyeing an exit. https://lnkd.in/eaRyeqV6 We have seen bright spots in the IPO market, as it warms up in light of Q1 activity with Reddit, Inc. and Astera Labs. Each of these companies were able to get the market excited in advance. They affirmed their strengths and differentiated themselves. Even more, they reflect some of the sexier categories in biz: #tech, #AI, and #EV. With AI all the rage, we may see some “new shiny object” behavior from investors - and fatigue. Same goes for EV. Who will set us into overdrive and who will crash and burn? Telling the right story, with integrity and early and often, is essential to standing out in this market. On another note, this article was published in January 2024 - and I’m just posting it directly now as it was already shared by Pursuit PR in real-time. Client work comes first. Hopefully, this admission encourages executives in similar positions to share their unique insights, even if it is on a deferred basis. It is more effective for an executive to post directly than repost. But it also better to do it later than not at all. The most effective and efficient content is timely and adaptable while having a longer shelf life. This is especially relevant when an executive is immersed in an industry and has foresight on the market. By capturing insights in content, the executive can get their points out into the ether and leverage them across shared, owned, and earned media when relevant as a trend evolves or a prediction comes to fruition.

Chips are the hottest thing in tech media these days. Twice in the span of a few weeks I've read of VCs + founders talking of a chip on the old shoulder. Turns out these things are gold dust. VCs fancy the odds of investing in founders that come replete with chips. And founders who keep their chip forefront in their mind scale with intent. It's a win/win. It's also storytelling. Engaging. Once again, Nathan Faleide nails it. And includes helpful memes to go along. I was just talking with Janette Barnard about this very thing (see her excellent most recent post with her thoughts on top trends in #AgTech from 2023 and what it means for 2024, linked below) and I summed it up as "it definitely feels like we're at a moment of reckoning for this era of AgTech, the music has stopped and there's only so many chairs and it's time to see what actually works and what just burns capital". Link 👉 https://lnkd.in/gCWn3uvC It's definitely not an enjoyable space to be in, especially for someone who A) loves to build great new things and B) is a true believer in the real power for good that exists at the crossroads of #agriculture and #technology, but I think this is actually good for all of us. It keeps us honest and realistic and makes sure that the overall environment is a healthy one that actually creates real value and progress, rather than getting us stuck in an endless loop of overpromise and underdeliver on things that just don’t work or scale. I like how Nathan Faleide put it with his comments about an "AgTech reset". I've been feeling an industry-wide trend towards winding down this era that we've been in for the last decade or so and while part of me is disappointed that not everything has worked out like dreamed when everything was possible and the sky was the limit, I think we learned a lot as an industry about what value actually means to growers and I'm excited for what the next era will look like.
