Head of Development at Restless Native Productions

Fresh back from the Glasgow International Film Festival and two interesting back to back industry events with a heavy contrast of emotions. One highly charged filled with Scottish based filmmakers feeling anxiety, anger and abandonment. Followed by a Scottish Screen Strategy Launch painting a picture for a bright future for Scottish Screen. Personally, I didn't feel convinced. I identified with those who felt in the A-A-A club. Particularly those wanting to make comedy and genre with an eye on commerciality. A big chunk of this reasoning is down to a lack of funding for early filmmakers or even second time filmmakers. People might think I come across as negative or a grump. Being ADHD, it's hard to find a way out of a negative spin now and again. But the truth is, I just want things to be the better or the best as they can be. So I'm going to plough on with my multiple missions. Two of them being to grow both Short Com and SI-FAN as two of the best film festivals in the world for comedy and genre. And to help talent in those fields get the attention they deserve amongst the industry. And if you think you'd like to do the same and in a position to help. I've got a sponsorship pitch deck with your name on it. Let me know if you want to take a peek.
