Walmart grants are one of the most common grants sought after by nonprofit organizations because the application is so simple. However, the new verification process is causing quite a bit of frustration for many of my clients and maybe for some of you. The additional steps to create an account and get verified are for the security and benefit of the organizations, so you can't be too mad about that. I know many who started the process and quit because they felt it was too time consuming or confusing. Start the process by understanding that it probably will not be completed in one sitting. The system goes through verification levels to ensure that your account is properly set up and verified to receive payments to the correct account. Now, isn't that worth the wait? Partnerships are the foundation of every successful CAC.

We are a village, and a village makes sure that care is taken for each member of the community. We are currently working on our largest benevelonce initiative and invite allied individuals and businesses to join us. The adopt a family program is in it’s 5th year and given the rising costs of living in the Austin area and the overall economic landscape, we have lots of families who can benefit from this initiative. Backstory: In 2019, we had a few moms who vulnerably asked the larger group of mothers for help providing Christmas gifts for their children. That year we served 12 families simply by having moms with more sponsor moms who had less. In that group we had two businesses contribute greatly- Adisa Communications and CEO Shuronda Robinson and New Image Salon owned by foluke holley. Last year we were able to serve 81 children with the help of our larger Austin community and community partners like Austin Area Urban League and CEO Quincy Dunlap and Joyce James CEO of Joyce James Consulting. The ask: below we have families who still need sponsors. This is a great opportunity for your team at work, book club, faith community, friend group, family or business to support our mothers and their children. We try to make it as easy as possible, so here’s how you can get involved: 1. Contact me directly expressing interest in adopting a family. If you have one in mind, you can share. 2. As you make your shopping list for this holiday season, we hope you will consider adding items for our Cozy Drive. This will be our 2nd year organizing this drive and we are so excited to make a big impact. We are collecting all items ""cozy"" to keep kiddos warm and dry this winter season. We are looking for kids clothes, jacket, hats and other items that might help keep kids warm and dry. We are also collecting diapers and pull ups this year. Larger sizes are in the most need. These donations will be helping to support a couple of our favorite local organizations: NW Children's Outreach: this local organization functions as a collection and distribution center, collecting resources for children and distributing the goods to local Care Providers and organizations who meet directly with and prescreen the children. 15,000+ Children were served in 2022 A Family Place: this local organization helps families in many ways and they start with helping to meet a very basic need for their young children and will take all the diapers. More than 600 children and families are served each year. So while you are making your list, and checking it twice, won't you considering our cozy drive? This month's nonprofit Spotlight is Community Services Clearinghouse: I got to sit down with Aubry Severe and learn about the ways this organization can help, and also hear about the impact they've already made. Here's what we discussed: Q. What is one thing you want our community to know about this organization? A. There is an on-site food pantry for elders, disabled, and individuals going through medical treatments. Q. How many were you able to help in 2023? A. *They helped 400 families a month with the food pantry *71,898 kids from Aug. 2023-May 2024 through the Meals for Kids Backpack program *142 schools in 7 counties Q. What brought you to this organization? A. Aubry first came as a volunteer for the holiday program for a few years then applied to become a caseworker, and is now the Director of Operations Q. What big events do you have coming up in 2024? A. *True Grit Ride/Run is coming up soon on June 22. The ride starts at 7am, and run starts at 7:30am. You can sign up at csclearinghouse.org *Meals for Kids Backpack program picks back up in August Q. How can we help? A. Pantry donations are always needed especially in the summer. Businesses can help by hosting food drives.
