The longstanding CHERY and JLR joint-venture CJLR draws closer with the founding of a brand called Freelander. Not a new Land Rover Freelander model. A new brand, with new dealers and new vehicles. Vehicles that will sit on Chery platforms, not Land Rover ones. As per JLR: "CJLR will pivot its product range with the rebirth of the Freelander brand, with a new portfolio based on Chery’s EV architecture, manufactured in Changshu. "Freelander will offer a portfolio of electric vehicles for sale in China through a distinct retailer network, destined over time for global export." I wonder if and when that may mean Australia? I recently bumped into an old video of a toy amphibian car which I built 20 years ago. Constructing a small-scale prototype can be instrumental in testing concepts, avoiding costly errors, and enhancing overall project feasibility. Reflecting on my experience, I applied this approach while building a remote-controlled 1/10 scale prototype for an electric amphibian car project. This allowed me to assess hull design and sealing methods efficiently, mitigating risks and optimizing the final full-scale model. Surprisingly, crafting the miniature prototype turned out to be more enjoyable than the larger counterpart. I find myself re-inspired and eager to transform the electric amphibian car prototype into an exciting and commercially feasible real toy for passionate hobbyists. Enthusiasts interested in contributing to this exciting venture are warmly invited to join, turning this innovative concept into a tangible and enjoyable reality. 🚩 This Cat Causes Uncontrollable Grinning At its release, the F-Type Project 7 was the fastest Jaguar production car ever built. It was introduced to the public at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2014. But why 7, I hear you ask. Well, the '7' represents the number of wins Jaguar achieved at Le Mans, three of which were due to the outstanding performance of the Jaguar D-type. The Jaguar designers were tasked with recreating a kind of D-type in modern format; the man responsible was Cesar Pieri, who had only been a Jaguarite for a matter of months. The F-Type Project 7 - 'where roaring nostalgia meets modern horsepower' Jaguar built Project 7 with a D-type styled single fairing behind the driver's head and retro bucket seats. Unlike the D-type, powered by a 3.4-litre DOHC inline six-cylinder engine capable of producing 250 horses, the Project 7 was fitted with a 5.0-litre V8 producing 575hp. Only 250 units of Project 7 were hand-built by Jaguar Land Rover's Special Operations team, making it a sought-after collector's car. Overall, the Jaguar F-TYPE Project 7 represents the pinnacle of Jaguar's performance capabilities, combining stunning design, incredible power, and advanced technology. Warning: Driving the Project 7 may cause uncontrollable grinning and excessive speeding tickets.

WHAT MAKES A BRAND ICONIC? I chanced across this E-Type Jaguar at our local shopping mall this weekend. Launched in 1961 it was the first sports car on the road to do 150 mph. It has since achieved iconic brand status, revitalising the fortunes of the Jaguar marque and defining an era. Like many iconic brands, it can still polarise. It is the ultimate design aesthetic, unique and instantly recognizable. But my wife hates it (and I thought she had taste!) What made the E-Type the amazing success it was - and still is? Apart from the breathtaking looks (as the story goes Enzo Ferrari called it the most beautiful car in the world), it had substance to match its style. Jaguar advanced disc brake and suspension technology to try to keep up with its speed. And they made it affordable relative to competitors (like half the price). Above all, iconic brands stand the test of time. They have a cadre of advocates that follow them with the zeal of missionaries. They grow with their audience and they stay relevant over time (anyone notice the car Prince Harry drove off in for his honeymoon?...a bespoke electric E-Type). Driven: ECD Jaguar E-Type Packs Chevy V8 Power https://lnkd.in/eFndJtir That may sound blasphemous, but it's a match made in heaven. The Jaguar E-Type (also known as the XK-E) is often considered one of the prettiest cars of all time. Even Enzo Ferrari thought so. But you know what isn't so pretty? A puddle of oil on your garage floor or being left stranded on the side of the road. For all of its greatness, the E-Type isn't the most reliable vehicle on the road. That's why ECD Automotive Design in Kissimmee, Florida, stepped in to rectify that issue. ECD is best known for restoring Land Rover Defenders and Range Rovers and turning them into luxury hot rods, but the company has recently set its sights on the iconic XK-E, the predecessor to the modern Jaguar F-Type. The first of these restored Jags was ready to drive, so we popped down to Kissimmee to see how it compares to the company's Land Rover builds. Unsurprisingly, the Jaguar is a completely different animal.
