When we worked on the first #cpr and #JORC resource for Montepuez about 10 years ago there were many questions about pricing and the gemstone market. Most #gemstones are produced by artisans, the deposits are small and they don't lend themselves to drilling due to their erratic nature. We overcame these but there was a harder question answer. How big is the market? To cut a long story short, the CPs had to judge if the market projections could be realised. We gave our opinions. We signed off. Here we are 10 years later and it has been confirmed. The gemstone market is quite big and is getting bigger. The market could absorb the production. The Gemfields grading system also helped a great deal. The auction attendees can bid on packaged lots of stones that have all been graded and sorted. This facilitates bulk production of jewellery.

A sign the market is stabilizing. Petra Diamonds has seen a resurgence in rough diamond prices at its most recent tender, a sign that the market is stabilizing. The third tender of the fiscal year generated $67.9 million for 519,397 carats, averaging $131 per carat, marking a 19% increase in like-for-like prices compared to the second tender in October. Early results showed $58.7 million from 462,794 carats, with an average of $127 per carat. The final phase added 56,600 carats for $9.3 million, including sales from the Cullinan and Finsch mines ($3.1 million for 25,200 carats) and the Williamson mine in Tanzania ($6.2 million for 31,400 carats). #diamonds #diamondindustry #gemstones #diamondnews

Diamond sales at Botswana’s Debswana fall 49.2% as market downturn continues Unsurprisingly the reduced output from De Beers Group, plus the softer rough diamond pricing has seen the revenues Debswana has secured down substantially YoY at just US$1.3bn. This will have a significant impact on the Botswanan government's income for 2024. While it is gaining an increasing share of the diamonds Debswana produces, in the short term, given De Beers has cut its output guidance another 10% at its interim results recently, 2H looks like it will be similarly constrained for the Botswanan budget. In a recent article on MINING.com, Duncan Wanblad, CEO of Anglo American said "“Diamond markets are particularly soft at the moment, and a lot of that is because what is happening in China,” Wanblad said in the TV interview. “It has all the characteristics of the bottom of the cycle for diamonds.” Wanblad said a recovery in the diamond market is now expected to be delayed until next year, but that wouldn’t stop the company’s plans to sell De Beers. #diamonds #Botswana https://lnkd.in/d8gXSvYi

Pakistan’s gold prices dropped by Rs. 650 per tola on Thursday, closing below Rs. 216,000 per tola. Moreover, data from the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association (APGJA) shows that the price of 24 carat precious metal dropped to Rs. 215,850 per tola, a decrease of Rs. 650. In contrast, the cost of 10 grams decreased by Rs. 650 to Rs. 185,057. O3 Mining - Minière O3. (TSXV: OIII) (OTCQX: OIIIF) has reported assay results from its 24,505-metre drilling campaign at the Malartic H deposit within the Marban Alliance project in Val-d'Or, Québec, Canada. Highlights: * 4.5 m of 35.1 g/t Au, including 1.5 m of 102.0 g/t Au at a depth of 72.9 m. * 15.4 m of 3.0 g/t Au at 52.7 m. * 19.3 m of 2.1 g/t Au, including 0.7 m of 31.7 g/t Au at 212.4 m. With 121 drill holes completed, Malartic H remains open laterally and at depth, highlighting its potential.
