This is an important initiative to ensure that commercial vehicles, which have different needs for charging and electrical infrastructure, are top of mind as infrastructure develops. The next time you see a public charger, ask yourself whether a truck could use it (would it fit in the spot, can it even access it, can it pull out easily?) and the answer will probably be clear. At this point, most charging is designed for passenger cars and not suitable for commercial and heavier vehicles. This initiative will help bring together and educate the broad range of stakeholders in the effort to extend infrastructure to help our sector advance electrification.

Exciting news from the USA: The #TRATON brand Navistar Inc has teamed up with Daimler Truck North America and Volvo Trucks North America in the industry-wide coalition Powering America’s Commercial Transportation (PACT). ⚡🌍 While the adoption of zero-emission commercial vehicles faces challenges, such as limited charging infrastructure, PACT’s mission is to drive the deployment of nationwide #infrastructure for medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) in the USA through education and advocacy.🔌 "Commercial vehicle customers require fast, reliable, affordable, and convenient power to effectively deploy ZEV fleets at scale," said Mathias Carlbaum, president and CEO of Navistar. “To enable their success, we must work collaboratively across sectors to deliver an infrastructure that provides seamless access to electricity and meets the commercial transportation industry’s unique needs. PACT provides a forum dedicated to making this vision a reality; working to accelerate the impact of sustainable mobility." Other founding members include ABB E-mobility, Burns & McDonnell, Greenlane™, J.B. Hunt Transport Inc., Prologis Inc., and Voltera.
