Chairman, President and CEO of Southern Company

Today we mark another historic milestone for our company, the state of Georgia and the nation as we completed the expansion of the Vogtle nuclear generation plant to include Unit 3 and now Unit 4. This achievement not only exemplifies the power of collaboration, but also our unwavering commitment to getting this project done and getting it done right. Thank you to our employees, our co-owners, labor partners, contractors and stakeholders. We are proud that Plant Vogtle stands as the largest clean energy producer in the U.S. This achievement represents a long-term investment that will benefit our customers for decades to come. These new Vogtle units will enhance the reliability, resiliency and affordability of our system as we work to achieve our goal to be net zero by 2050.

As a SO shareholder and advocate for the cleanest power available today at reliable large, scale go team. This is an example of focusing on delivering power responsibly. This is what the vast majority of shareholders and employees want. Focus on delivering power and don't let Blackrock and others distract SO from this mission with peripheral, non-value adding distractions.

Yes, that is exciting news! As per AP News, "The overall project is seven years late and $17 billion over budget. Vogtle’s costs and delays could deter other utilities from building nuclear plants, even though they generate electricity without releasing climate-changing carbon emissions. Currently, all the owners are projected to pay more than $31 billion in capital and financing costs, Associated Press calculations show. Add in $3.7 billion that original contractor Westinghouse paid to the Vogtle owners to quit building the reactors, and the total nears $35 billion."

This was great to see that finally both new units were up and in commercial operation. My family is from Waynesboro Georgia and it has transformed our little town completely. With a large influx of transient people to all of the new employment in the area, it has been great. I can't wait to come up and perform some NDT inspections to keep the plants efficient. Thank you for the great update.

I started my professional career construction a nuclear power plant in 1981. Loved every minute of it.

Its great to hear more nuclear plants are coming online. They are badly needed if we want to keep expanding our power demands.
