📌 LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games announce further venue updates, leveraging world-class facilities and highlighting Olympic Games legacy. 🔹 Badminton will be played at the USC Sports Center in LA. 🔹 Fencing, judo, table tennis, taekwondo and wrestling will be hosted in the Convention Center in downtown Los Angeles. 🔹 Weightlifting will take place at the nearby Los Angeles Theater. 🔹 Golf will be played in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood at the Riviera Country Club, which has previously hosted several major championships. 🔹 Track cycling, hockey, rugby sevens and tennis will be staged in the City of Carson. 🔹The rowing and canoe sprint events will take place in the Marine Stadium – which staged rowing at Los Angeles 1932 – in the heart of the city of Long Beach. 🔹 Sailing will be held in the waters along Belmont Shore; the marathon swimming and triathlon races will be on the waterfront along Alamitos Beach; and water polo will take place in a temporary aquatics venue at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center. 🔹 Handball will be in the sports arena which is part of the same complex. 🔹 This latest announcement includes venues that are unchanged from the original 2017 candidature plan, along with new venues. ➡️ Full story: https://lnkd.in/eF_iuiRt #LA28 #Olympics

📌 The inaugural Olympic Esports Games will be hosted in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2025. 🔹 This groundbreaking step follows the IOC’s recent announcement that the IOC Executive Board has established Olympic Esports Games. 📌 It is only 18 days to go until the Olympic Games return to Paris, the city of Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the Modern Olympic Games. 🔹 His inspiration to revive the Olympic Games came from his visits to Ancient Olympia in Greece. 🔹 “Nothing in ancient history had given me more food for thought than Olympia. This dream city, consecrated to a task strictly human and material in form... 🔹 By the end of 2023, the last year of preparations before the Olympic Games #Paris2024, the number of athletes supported by an individual Olympic Scholarship had grown from 1,146 to 1,260. These athletes represent 154 NOCs, while an additional 36 NOCs with large delegations (50+ athletes at Tokyo 2020 Games) are benefitting from a tailor-made option. - Please find all details in the Olympic Solidarity and NOC Services Annual Report. 🔹 On the road to Paris 2024, 206 Olympic summer sports teams – 112 women’s and 94 men’s teams – from 135 NOCs benefitted from the Olympic Solidarity Team Support Grant programme in 2023. 🔹 2023 was also the year of the launch of the scholarships for the next Olympic Winter Games, #MilanoCortina2026. In this first year of this programme, Olympic Solidarity awarded 197 individual scholarships to athletes from 39 NOCs. A further six NOCs, those with the largest delegations at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, were receiving a tailor-made option. 🔹 Just like for Paris 2024, Olympic Solidarity is also offering support to teams on the road to Milano Cortina 2026.
