Here’s what I know after 13 years of teaching high school English, managing our welding fabrication shop and working at NCCER for 14 years. People want a hand up not a hand out. People want to learn, but sometimes learning isn’t exactly the traditional way of learning. Sometimes it’s in a class, in a shop, at a stove, in front of a canvas, under a car… but always it’s with someone willing to teach them, someone to help them, spend time with them.
