Now, as we witness GE embracing a model of focused agility, I feel a sense of vindication. This move underscores a broader trend: the shift from cumbersome diversification to nimble, specialized operations that can swiftly adapt to market demands. The evolution of procurement from a supportive role to a strategic cornerstone in product development is now more apparent. As GE's specialized entities move forward, the role of procurement is increasingly recognized as critical to business success. It’s hot off the press, Konecranes’ Annual Report 2023 is out as a comprehensive review about our key highlights and events from last year. We have many reasons to be proud of our work last year. We delivered excellent financial results with the record-breaking sales of EUR 3.966 billion and an all-time high comparable EBITA margin of 11.4%, Additionally, our new target for carbon neutral own operations by 2030 was released, following our 2022 accomplishment of reaching our science-based targets for Scope 1 and 2 emissions. These are only to mention a few. Our annual report makes interesting reading to anyone keen to understand more about our operations, strategy and the impact we aspire to make in the different industries we operate in. Electronic supply chains have faced several disruptions in the last few years. 🤯 What a week for Advanced Services! Pushing the boundaries of their competitive landscape, Alstom and Aira have solidified the importance of outcome-based services in the manufacturing world. 🚨 Earlier this week, Aira announced that it would also be manufacturing its own heat pumps while starting as a service provider of comfort guarantees. Is this wise? Most probably, yes! A company that understands exactly what is required to deliver customer outcomes should know exactly what kind of product is needed. 🚨 Yesterday, Alstom announced that it would launch its own train service from Wrexham to London while being one of the world's leading train manufacturers. Is this wise? Why not! A company that has guaranteed the performance of its equipment for train service operators for decades should know how to run a train service best using its own equipment. 🤔 This creates a unique dilemma! Would Aira be competing with its current suppliers of heat pumps? Would Alstom be competing with its current customers? We don't exactly know. But most definitely, Alstom and Aira will offer the most advanced services in whichever competitive landscape they choose to operate in. 😎 Is this magic? No. Its #Servitization! And there is no better way to visualise this than the famous 'Services Staircase' by The Advanced Services Group. There are many lessons to be learned from this. The key is to innovate.
