Ph.D. Candidate, Communications Studies, Fudan University

🇺🇳🇲🇴 This concludes my precious days at UNU & Macau. I spent the past 7 months at the United Nations University Institute in Macau as a Communications Fellow. Here, we focus on digital technology and sustainable development, producing policy-relevant research and innovative solutions to address the challenges outlined in the #UN2030Agenda. As a Communications Fellow, I had the privilege of working with our COMMS team, engaging in a variety of tasks related to international communications and content strategy. This role was a crucial step in merging my academic studies with real-world experience. I gained valuable insights into international, organizational, and cross-cultural communication strategies and methodologies. My hands-on experience in digital content creation and social media campaign management not only enhanced our online presence on digital platforms but also deepened my ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to diverse audiences. One of my most memorable achievements was assisting in organizing the #AIConference2024 "AI for All: Bridging Divides, Building a Sustainable Future" held in April in Macau (https://aimacau-2024.org/): 📷 Collaborated with my supervisor Qian Dai, we led a full-scale social media campaign, coordinating real-time updates and live-tweeting the event in Chinese and English across platforms, enhancing the event’s global reach and interactive engagement. My role involved strategically managing these platforms to ensure seamless communication and maximize stakeholder participation, significantly amplifying the conference’s impact and aligning with its core objectives. 📝 At the venue, I served as a content manager for several sessions, coordinating with volunteers to ensure smooth proceedings for speakers, and capturing key moments throughout the event. 🎓 As a Ph.D. candidate specializing in Communications Studies, I independently presented my research "The Culture Industry Under Algorithmic Distribution in the Intelligence Era", bridging my academic work and theoretical frameworks with tangible industry applications discussed at the conference. Invited by Jia An LIU, I also contributed to his session “AI Agents in Practice: Harnessing AI for All”, where we focused on the evolution of LLM-based #AIagents for interdisciplinary research and opportunities for global good together. Reflecting on these experiences, my time at the United Nations University Institute in Macau was incredibly valuable. I am honored to have worked alongside such a dedicated team and to have played a pivotal role in advancing projects that align with the #SDGs. Special thanks to Jingbo Huang for leading the team with such dedication, to Serge Stinckwich for his pioneering research model and continuous insights into AI with a sustainable mindset, and to all the researchers here for their interdisciplinary sparks. It was a pleasure to work with all of you, and thank you for being a pivotal part of my journey. ❤️
