Since the large corporations started the layoffs this year, many people have been struggling to find a new job for months now. It can lead to job search fatigue and YES that is an actual thing. Applying for jobs, tailoring your resumes, and making cover letters, all these activities can take hours of your day, and doing it for months without any prominent result can leave you emotionally and physically exhausted and demotivated. To cope, just take a break, a couple of days off, or a week off from your full-time job search just like we take a break from our work when we are burnt out. I have been in Recruiting for 7 years. I started my career as a Staffing Agency Recruiter. I quickly realized that helping people and making connections was something that I loved to do. Nothing feels better than helping someone land a job that impacts their livelihood, their families, and how they view themselves in the morning. The market is a bit scary right now as I am enduring my 3rd layoff within my career. I get it, I understand the mental and financial toll this can take on a person and their families. With that being said, we need to not forget this is not the end of the road. Take this moment as an opportunity, explore new career paths, brush up on your skills and connect with other professionals in your industry and stay networking. Most importantly stay positive! Seriously some people don't help themselves I was tempted to cancel my consultation calls this week But I didn't want to let anyone down → The market sucks. → There's ongoing layoffs → And everyone is sick of being ghosted. If only I'd known that 5 out of 7 job seekers would fail to show up for the calls they scheduled (without an explanation or an apology) Come on people. You cannot sit there pointing fingers at recruiters, employers and the system if you're not even able to hold an appointment you made. I'm currently at capacity with coaching clients and will soon be starting a waiting list because I simply do not have enough time to help everyone who needs my support. YOU will not only have a job, but a responsibility and opportunity to impact and drive change to the system that is broken. I frequently engage with candidates as part of my job. Some of the candidates I reach out to are content with their current jobs and their company's culture, while others are dissatisfied but hesitant to take action. Given the industry's volatility and frequent layoffs, many are reluctant to seek new opportunities. However, when layoffs occur at their current companies, these candidates find themselves in a larger pool of job seekers, all vying for positions at established firms. Yet, it's crucial to remember that job security isn't guaranteed even at these large companies (as you can tell)... have you seen the list of companies!! Instead of solely focusing on large corporations as your saviors, consider smaller companies. Many of these firms have never experienced mass layoffs and offer stable employment opportunities. Candidates, it's time to adjust your mindset. Despite the challenges, there are still plenty of opportunities available in the market. Working in recruitment and especially tech recruitment, I speak to people most days about job layoffs. Here is why you can take action on this if you ever find yourself in this sort of situation: 1. Take your time. Give yourself time to think and process the change. 2. Follow the process. Make sure you understand the process and what the company is offering in terms of support. 3. Take stock. Take stock of your financial situation and budget accordingly. 4. Network. Reach out to your contacts and let them know what has happened. 5. Take care of yourself. This is a stressful time and it's important to look after yourself. 6. Look at alternatives. Think about alternative job roles or even a career change if that's what you're after. 7. Look for support. There are lots of resources out there to offer advice and support during this time. Remember, being laid off is a common experience, many have been through the same thing, don't put yourself down! #jobsearch #layoff #support

Extreme job layoffs 😤 I’m not sure if this is a “trend” 📈. I hate to see these post 😖. I will continue to comment “ reach” as I know any help would count. I encourage everyone that have lost a job, to also consider 1099 work if you haven’t thus far. In regards to your resume 📝,for those that will be able to claim unemployment, I would also suggest doing some volunteer work in your field as well. This may limit the gap on your resume. As a Recruiter I know gaps shouldn’t hold any weight 🤔but, to some it does. This might have not been much but it’s something. I have hesitated as to whether or not I should post this, but I must listen to my gut and my personal values. I cannot live in fear that a future employer will see this post and discount me as a potential candidate. Please accept this post in the spirit in which it is intended - to help others. If you are a recruiter who is looking for a job, you have no doubt seen that there are numerous companies (some of them Fortune 100 companies) who have been posting the same recruiting jobs for close to a year (I have actually kept a list of them). I am unsure why they are doing this, but it has reached a point where it is out of control. One of these companies has over 4 full pages of job openings which have been posted and reposted so many times that I have lost count. There are many others like this. I urge you all to report these jobs. You can do so by clicking the ellipses in the job posting, then click on report and follow the prompts. Many of you may already know this, but I just learned how to flag a job a week ago. So hopefully this helps at least one person, and calls to action for others. LinkedIn we implore you to begin investigating these companies. With so many layoffs, and so many recruiters out of work, there is no reason for these folks to post the same job opening over and over and over (and over). It is incredibly soul-draining to see the same job postings over and over knowing that the jobs are most likely fake, a scam, or an attempt to boost their engagement or candidate pool. We need real job postings. Many of these jobs have data showing that over 1k people have clicked apply. Even if only a quarter of those folks actually apply, there is still no reason that they cant fill these roles with all of the amazing talent looking right now.
