The EUV pellicle is a critical and breakthrough technology that enables large volume microchip manufacture. These pellicles are extremely thin membranes (usually less than 50 nm) that faithfully let in the EUV light while protecting the photomasks from contamination. They are also engineered to operate at high temperature, high-vacuum environments.   As the industry moves towards beyond-2nm technology nodes, it becomes an imperative to operate the EUV light sources at higher powers (> 600 W). imec's strategic collaboration with Mitsui Chemicals will help commercialize a CNT pellicle technology with >94% EUV transmittance and an ability to withstand EUV power levels beyond 1 kW, underscoring the power of innovation and its impact on technology transition. 

We were honored to welcome a delegation from Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI)(工業技術研究院, 工研院) to das-Nano The delegation included Erika Ho, a member of the Business Division for Europe at ITRI’s Industry, Science and Technology International Strategy Center (ISTI), and Irene Izarra 安旖旎 from HERRERA ZHANG, the consulting firm that makes this visit to Navarra possible. During this visit, das-Nano's terahertz wave-based technology attracted significant interest from the Taiwanese delegation because of its potential to reduce costs and make manufacturing processes more efficient and sustainable. With das-Nano Irys, manufacturers can meticulously control coatings on various surfaces without contact, marking a significant advancement in quality control and drastically reducing rework and waste. Additionally, das-Nano Onyx enables the electrical characterization of materials, providing crucial assistance in manufacturing devices for the semiconductors industry. During our recent UHDI forum we stressed the need for cooperative efforts for developing new electronic packaging materials, equipment and processes. We mentioned collaborative work between Uyemura and Japan's Resonac. Resonac is now promoting its newly expanded Packaging Solution Center for "open innovation through co-creation". The company provides semiconductor materials for the front-end process, back-end process, and substrates as well as dry film photoresists and materials to make PCBs. Hidenori Abe, General Manager of the Electronics Business Headquarters R&D Center, said that industry is now focusing on advanced packaging and mounting technologies in the back-end process, and that Resonac is aiming to strengthen horizontal collaboration (even with competitors) globally to contribute to the early realization of leading-edge packaging technology through co-creation that promotes open innovation. There was a time, not so long ago, when Japanese companies would not sell or service their equipment and technology to companies in foreign countries not owned by Japanese firms.
