Smile for the Camera! 📷 Such a fun day filming yesterday at our StarTrack Facility in Minchinbury! Throughout the day, our crew were interviewing a variety of employees comprising of drivers and freight handlers. We loved hearing about their role, why they love it and why they would recommend the role to others! Our aim? To allow you to hear what our workplace is like from people who are actually doing the job! I hope that job seekers find this helpful and it encourages individuals from all walks of life to apply for a role in Transport. It truly is a fantastic role. The problem? 🧐 Did you know there is a shortage of truck drivers on the road all over the world, not just in Australia? The contributing factors include: - Ageing workforce - Many experienced drivers are reaching retirement age, and there hasn't been a sufficient influx of younger drivers to replace them. - Regulations - Lack of appeal to the younger generation - Work/life balance - Pandemic Impact - The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated existing challenges within the transportation industry, including disruptions to supply chains, fluctuations in demand, and concerns about health and safety on the job. A failure to address these issues can create further disruptions and delays to our supply chain. With this said - Without trucks, Australia Stops. Our plan? 📝 - Create a better awareness to combat the perception of what it is to work for Transport! Utilising social media platforms to engage with diverse audience segments will enable us to broaden our reach, attracting a larger pool of individuals to explore opportunities within the transportation sector. - Vox pop has emerged as a social media trend, celebrated for its ability to generate interactive, genuine, and immediate responses to inquiries. Leveraging this approach, we've conducted interviews with our employees, capturing unfiltered and authentic perspectives. Our aim is to reinforce a true perception of frontline staff through these candid exchanges. - Implementing a transport pathways program. No truck license? No worries! We've assembled a committed team to provide candidates with the necessary support, training, and confidence essential for safe road delivery. While we are prioritising our internal candidates first, we will look into rolling this out externally soon. And many more projects soon to be announced, stay tuned! I’ve spent 20 years servicing clients with Australian immigration advice, and building international recruitment programs for employers of visa holders. I’m one of the co-founders of CheckWorkRights (CWR), where we provide industry leading SaaS compliance solutions to some of Australia’s biggest brands. 💭 Why CheckWorkRights? We built CWR to help customers better navigate the legal right to work requirements for Australian businesses. Our approach with CWR has been listen and learn, and we’ve been lucky to develop close relationships with our customer base as we build them the tools they need. Everything we build is reactive to our customer's needs, wants, and workflows to create efficiency, reduce risk, and ease the compliance burden for users of the application. Looking back, it’s been amazing to be developing a product that has so specifically been built for real world users. It’s meant that at times that we have had to develop on the fly, work fast, work weekends and so on, but it has been incredibly rewarding to see the uptake on what we have built. We are currently in the middle of an exciting growth phase, rolling out a multi-check functionality workflow for TA and P&C teams, as well as amping up the experience for incoming candidates and employees. We’ve been able to build a passionate and hardworking team who are laser-focused on the customer and aren’t afraid to have a laugh. 🐶 What do you like to do outside of work? Outside work I spend time in Melbourne with my wife and two daughters, and our much loved Cavoodle, Bowie. Cooking, gym, gardening, and camping / 4x4 are active pursuits that I enjoy regularly. ️☕️ What’s your beverage of choice? Coffee is a passion that I share with the rest of the CWR team, and I love a single malt whisky (or 8) on the weekends.

Meet Shelly Joseph-Dixon, a Customer Success Manager here at Remofirst! “Can you share a unique cultural experience or insight you've gained from interacting with our global clientele?” Working with clients in different countries who are hiring in other countries on the opposite side of the world can be a challenge of cultural differences. Being the middle person who manages this process allows me to constantly learn about different countries, laws, cultural expectations and generally be a part of bringing 2 different cultures together to work with understanding of the country laws and expectations. "What's the most rewarding part of your job? What drives you to give your best every day?" The best part of my job is sending the email to say to the employee "You are officially hired" and to the client that says the process for onboarding is now over and the employee will be starting on X day. Knowing that I have helped someone have legal employment across the world is very rewarding and makes me feel like I have made a difference.

Our top tip for providing an amazing client experience ⬇️ (Hint: it has nothing to do with what software you use to collect payment 👀) It's taking really good care of your employees. Cherish your employees. Grow them, teach them, listen to them. Tell them how much you appreciate them, and tell them often. Polar Books wouldn’t be where we are without the team we have in place. Some ways you can show your team appreciation besides just telling them: ➡️ Have team lunches. ➡️ Give raises and bonuses when you see someone going above and beyond. ➡️ Publicly recognize when someone is putting in hard work. ➡️ Help your team members grow in their professional journeys. At the end of the day, the client experience you provide is built on the employee experience you create. If you want your clients treated with genuine care and respect, it starts with the way you treat your employees.
