The 2023 US Grand Prix Tech magazine is out! This week, Fulvio Conti and I analyzed McLaren's third stint, that was the least competitive of all. That could be due to the fact that Lando Norris used more fuel at the beginning of the race rather than at the end. Practice, Practice, Practice (just to get to Carnegie ...) . One of the things I love about security is the way the best teams have discipline. They have predefined drills to follow. They practice the drills. Repeatedly. They review the drills for effectiveness (ask questions, critic outcomes). Everyone is accountable. Noone is above improvement. Everyone helps those around them.

I listened to F1 Beyond the Grid with Andrea Stella from McLaren F1. It is a gold mine of lessons for competing in a high performance technical environment. Here are my three main takeaways: 1.) Achieving incredible results requires a level of discomfort, you have to be comfortable being uncomfortable. 2.) A process of constant and rapid progress is more important than arbitrary goals. 3.) We all called it, and he did not disappoint: Max Verstappen was back. With a vengeance. Dominating every session from FP1 onwards, there really wasn't any doubt that he would be securing another win during the #F1 #JapaneseGP this weekend, and (single-handedly 👀) bring Red Bull Racing their sixth constructor's world championship. There is a new team solidly in the mix for podiums though. McLaren are back! With two top-notch drivers in Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri (the best rookie to come into the sport in a while), and one hell of a car underneath them, they'll be hoping to challenge Red Bull for race wins at some point during the season. Let's be honest: we all did not expect that to happen when they were fighting at the back of the grid at the beginning of the season. I would love to see if the transformation their car has gone through is also reflected in their culture. When a culture change like the one Brown describes needs to happen, it will invariably be met with resistance. Our brains simply do not like change. No matter how dire the circumstances, better the devil you know. At least then, you know what you've got. Change freaks out our brains, and, when not implemented the right way, creates a negative stress response, leading to even worse performance. It is imperative for leaders to understand this, otherwise any attempt at change will fail. Zak Brown seems to get this, and we are enjoying the fruits of his labor with two amazing drivers fighting for podiums with Mercedes and Ferrari. It is absolutely fantastic to see another team in the mix, let's hope they're able to continue their upward trajectory, and then maybe 2024 will finally bring me my ultimate Formula One dream: a battle royale for the championship! #HighPerformance #McLarenRacing #Leadership

🏎 Exciting News in the World of Motorsport 🏁 Some exciting and monumental news has just come out in the world of Formula 1! Lewis Hamiliton has officially announced that he will be making the switch from Mercedes to Ferrari in the 2025 season. This is sure to shake up the grid for 2025 with many contracts ending in 2024. I wonder who will fill the empty Mercedes seat and which team, if any Carlos Sianz will go to. As a student who is currently looking into a law related career there are some things that come from this that interest me. I would like to know the implications of the contracts in this deal and how the legal side of this switch was dealt with. Also I would like to know how this will affect the 2024 season as Lewis is still under contract with Mercedes until the end of the 2024 season. I have two questions for you What are your thoughts on Lewis Hamilton's switch to Ferrari? How do you think this will affect Mercedes in 2024?
