America’s cities are shaping the nation’s future. This year’s Milken Institute #BestPerformingCities Index spotlights community resilience and the importance of reducing income inequality. This year’s top-performing cities had several common themes: a vigorous and growing high-tech sector, rebounding leisure and hospitality sectors, and community resilience. Simultaneously, housing supply and affordability was a concern among most top-performing cities. Interest rates on mortgages doubled, making job hotspots with higher wages and lower living costs more attractive.
