The City of Fremont’s minimum wage increased to $17.30 per hour beginning on July 1, 2024. Employers are required to pay at least the minimum wage for all hours worked to hourly employees who perform work within the geographic boundaries of the City of Fremont. Employers are also required to post the official City of Fremont Wage Bulletin in the top five languages spoken in the city in a conspicuous place at each work site. The Official Bulletins, including translated versions, are available for download on the City’s Minimum Wage webpage at https://lnkd.in/gEv_rFUm. To avoid a reduction in the valuable services they provide to the community, the minimum wage ordinance exempts employees of non-profit corporations. This 9% increase may put a lot of organisations out of business......... Real Living Wage likely to become £13p/h+ Its likely to balance itself out for those on minimum wage as retailers increase prices as a result. I feel it impacts a lot of people earning above the min wage as many companies will not have the funds for the proportionate 9% increase and they will lose many skilled workers. Lots of job evaluations to do in the HR world now. What are your thoughts on this? Il go back to uplifting posts tomorrow this one just punched me in the face when I saw it. #humanresources #opentowork #minimumwage #employmentlaw

The Conservative administration oversaw two huge increases in the national living wage in the past two years. In April, it went up 9.8% to £11.44 an hour, which was on top of a 9.7% rise in 2023. The living wage goes up in bands according to age, so 16-year-olds start at £6.40 and 18 to 20-year-olds get £8.60. But in its manifesto, Labour has pledged to “remove the discriminatory age bands so all adults are entitled to the same minimum wage”. It is not yet clear whether they are counting 16-year-olds as adults. The living wage changes are just one of many new proposals Labour pledged to bring in that have concerned employers that are already wrestling with ever higher overheads. Some could, theoretically at least, be brought in straight away, while others may be quietly left to wither

I've noticed that people who approve of organizations that rely almost exclusively on "volunteer workers" (the exploitation of free labor) also support imposing high minimum wages on other organizations without any cognitive dissonance. So that means people agreeing to do work for a wage of zero is acceptable, even laudable (as is taking advantage of those people). Yet offering work or agreeing to do work for a wage greater than zero but less than an arbitrary minimum wage is completely unacceptable. 🤔🤷🏻♂️ Here's how to solve the conundrum. Agree to "volunteer" at an organization that can only operate with free labor, demand a raise, and unionize the volunteers. Then refuse to work until everyone gets [at least] the minimum wage. The organization, ideologically sympathetic to your cause, will back you 110.6%. 🙌🏻🫸🏻🫷🏻🤣

Is a big hike in minimum wage is necessary to fight soaring inflation? There are workmen who are working for a monthly pay of ₹10000 per month in the office of others, which is ₹300 per day.Even farmers at village are paying more than what rich class people paying to them in cities. Is earning ₹10k per month at their own village is so hard? There are plenty of opportunities available at village but for earning ₹300 per day these workers are migrating to other cities.

An ever-shrinking number of workers in the US are paid the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour – and a growing chorus of unions, economists and even employers agree it’s out of step with today’s economic reality. Only 141,000 US workers were paid the minimum per hour in 2022, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s down from 392,000 in 2019. And while many states have taken the initiative to increase the minimum wage into their own hands, twenty US states still only require employers to pay $7.25 an hour – or only $2.13 per hour for workers who collect tips. https://lnkd.in/gbQi4Wks #federal #minimumwage #unitedstates #impact #useconomy #workers

New Post: Union warns of Scots council jobs and services cull to pay for staff wage offer Both Unite and the GMB union suspended their action while members were consulted but the stoppage by members of Unison has still led to widespread school closures. But as Unison's three-day stoppage, that has closed hundreds of schools in Scotland, came to an end on Thursday it has emerged that the action could end up being widened. Unison is concerned that a further £84m had been 'reprofiled' from local authority budgets to pay for the amended offer which is estimated to be worth nearly £580m. Unison believes that just £155m that is on the table has come from the Scottish Government with the rest coming from local authority budgets. Solidarity from former First Minister @NicolaSturgeon to @unisonedin members on their day 3 picket line. But where is @HumzaYousaf ? Wind, rain or shine, we stand together for fair pay. #payupforcouncilstaff #UNISONstrikes pic.twitter.com/fvvkRRBHel — UNISON Scotland (@unisonscot) September 28, 2023 Unison's strike which included over 21,000 across 24 local authorities with 2000 schools affected. The union remains concerned over the money being ploughed into the pay offer which it says is coming off other local authority budgets and not from extra money from the Scottish Government. The Scottish Government insists there would be no impact on jobs or services. The councils association, the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) urged Unison to reconsider pressing ahead with any further action. COSLA had confirmed that the 'best and final' offer involved "working tirelessly...to review, reprioritise, restructure and reprofile money ensuring the impact on our communities is minimised". They have said there will be delays to programmes and projects within communities to meet these pay demands" Johanna Baxter, Unison's local government negotiator said: "The extra money has come from COSLA shifting around local authority budgets, which they said would result in further cuts to jobs and services. That is one of the reasons we are rejecting and have taken strike action. They are essentially giving a revised offer which means more job cuts. "They were very clear to us that is what is happening, because there has been no additional funding put in from the Scottish Government beyond what was in the original pay offer. "They will talk about £155m to the April pay offer, then they talk about reprofiling of money that results in additional £90m, that means from one council budget area to another which means cuts." Unison began the industrial action on Tuesday with primary and secondary schools across the country affected. The union said up to 21,000 of its members working in over 1,800 schools across 24 Scottish council areas walked out amid a pay dispute. Thousands of pupils were forced to stay at home across the country as many schools ha

🔴 Jeremy Hunt’s decision to increase the #nationallivingwage by 10pc could lead to #employers making #redundancies or scaling back hours, the boss of #recruitment giant #Reed has warned. James Reed said the recent lift from £10.42 to £11.44, announced by the #Chancellor in last month’s #AutumnStatement, will pile pressure on companies already struggling with high #labourcosts. He said: “My concern is that the rate of increase in the national living wage has been fast and the cost to a lot of employers will be considerable. “And will that mean they make decisions to employ fewer people at that level or to give them shorter hours? “I am in favour of people being paid more but it depends how fast and far you go.” The #Treasury has hailed the uplift, which will come into force from April, as the largest ever cash #increase to the national living wage, claiming it is the equivalent of £1,800 a year for workers on the lowest #income.
