Class 4 G&H RBI Leading Voice in UK Building Control working to keep you the right side of the Regs, and to avoid another Grenfell. Contact me for Building Control services on your next project.
If you have a complex/non standard project you may find it difficult to find a class 3 Inspector. Whilst we look on course for 3500 inspectors the vast majority will be class 1 come 6th by look of things. That’s still 1000 less than HSE thought and a fraction of the number needed depending on how you define “non-standard” https://lnkd.in/ep3qnyEF

Where’s your hard hat? Why is it so difficult on jobsites today to get trades and site visitors (such as inspectors!) to wear a hardhat? Signs are everywhere, fines are imposed, and OSHA requires it. So why is this most basic safety precaution so often ignored? Check out this week’s blog post on the matter and weigh in. #safety #jobsite #quality #homebuilding https://lnkd.in/eeXeAFYH

Our Guide to Health and Safety On Site👷 As a building control inspector, it’s our job to ensure work is taking place in adherence to the building regulations, but we still like to see health and safety best practice taking place on site. From huge commercial developments to small domestic extension projects, health and safety guidelines should always be observed by everyone who visits the site. Some of the highest areas of risk on site include: ◾Machinery/Plant ◾Trenches/Holes ◾Scaffolding ◾Lifting/Overheard Working ◾Other Site Operatives ◾Traffic Thankfully, there are now a variety of solutions to potential problems on construction sites. These include: ◾Training Appropriate training can increase awareness of potential risks and inform everyone on how to take steps to minimise them. ◾PPE Wearing safety equipment such as hard hats and safety goggles in environments that require it can significantly reduce the risk of injury. ◾Awareness/Observation Keeping health and safety at the forefront of your mind whilst working on site means any potential incidents can be often be prevented before they occur and makes it more likely rules and guidelines will be followed. ◾Signage Signage across site in areas where potential risks may occur and reminding workers to wear appropriate PPE is another way health and safety risks can be significantly reduced. ◾Reporting Systems & Accident Books Unfortunately even with great preparation accidents and incidents do sometimes occur. When they do, proper reporting and recording of what is happened is essential. For official guidance on and health and safety on construction sites, we recommend contacting the Health and Safety Executive. If it’s building control advice you’re after, we’re ready and happy to help! #construction #healthandsafety #guidance #buildingcontrol #approvedinspector

Site inspection is a series of regular check-ups and verification processes to ensure safety standards and working conditions are met at a work site. The traditional method of conducting site inspections involves field visits and paper checklists. Site inspections often cover a wide range of topics, from building code compliance to fire safety. inspectors will typically spend time observing work areas and talking to employees to get a sense of conditions on the ground. The inspector will prepare a trip report detailing any issues found during the inspection. You can use this report to make corrective action plans and ensure that standards are met in the future.
