Exploring Innovation at the Salon Industriel de Terrebonne This year, we had the pleasure of discovering the #SalonIndustrielTerrebonne - SIT2023, and we were absolutely blown away by the caliber of this event. The quality of the exhibitors and their products and services left us truly impressed. What made this show exceptional is that it isn't just about providing around 400 companies from the region with the opportunity to showcase themselves. It's so much more! The event also created a platform for visitors, and it was a resounding success among the public. Here's why this year show stands out: 🚀 New #Technologies: The SIT2023 positioned itself as an undeniable hub for the latest technological advancements. For our businesses and for us, the individuals alike, it was a fantastic opportunity to discover cutting-edge innovations and stay at the forefront of the industry. 🤝 #Networking: At this show, we made connections, forged #partnerships, and found abounded collaboration #opportunities. 📚 Information #Conferences: The event featured high-level information conferences that provided us with valuable insights and knowledge; especially impressed with the introduction of #AI as an unavoidable tool of the near future. We were delighted about visiting the SIT2023, and we can't wait for what next year has in store. It's clear that this event is not only a showcase of regional talent, but also a hub for #Innovation, #Collaboration, #KnowledgeSharing, #BusinessSuccess, and #BusinessExpantion. The SIT2023 made such a remarkable impression on us that we've decided to showcase our products and services at the next edition (see the links below). And it doesn't stop there - we're excited to extend our presence not only at the SIT2024, but also at other upcoming locations. Stay tuned for more exciting developments! https://lnkd.in/e_ki-Xv9 www.prosolutiontm.com #AirFiltration #FiltrationEquipment #Filters www.ib37.ca #MetalTransformation #LaserCutting #bending #Welding

Last week's Unique Summit in Ostrava was ... tragic? Let me explain. Great event. The orgs at MSIC - Moravskoslezské inovační centrum and CzechInvest & co did an incredible job. Following the @globalstartupcities initiative, they brought people from all over the world to Ostrava (!) - mostly the public sector, some 20 startups (promising ones and not just CZ). Amazing venue. Flawless execution. Inspiring agenda. BUT... where tf was private capital? :D Among those couple hundred people, there were just a few VCs and angels. Next year the Summit is already in Cape Town and I think we just blew a great opportunity to boost the regional innovation ecosystem by showing off our investment capacities somewhere else than in Prague (coz let's be honest, startups meeting the public sector is, surely, great, but there's some money missing in this equation). All this comes down to the lack of visibility of regional innovation hubs - often we are not aware of how powerful they could be (maybe, they are not aware themselves?). Could we do better marketing/PR with such events? Could we focus on the bigger picture once we have this kind of opportunity? I'll quote one of the speakers. "There is no problem of Ostrava being the third city in the country - we all know that, we don't care. What we care for is Ostrava becoming an innovation hub attractive for startups just as much as Prague" (if you doubt that's possible, just ask Radek Novotný from Superface:) Thank you MSIC - Moravskoslezské inovační centrum for bringing this event to life. I hope we will hear more about the ecosystem in Ostrava and other regional hubs here in the Czech Republic. Make sure to ping us VCs too - we are happy to cooperate😉

Innovation Zero was a wonderful opportunity to take the lay of the Net Zero land across the UK. Amid a policy to and fro on the eve of local elections, we heard from entrepreneurs and SMEs working in every aspect of the low-carbon transition – although the UK is still heavily weighted towards Energy first and everything else later! Many SMEs were worried about being lost in the "valley of death" between incubation with the likes of Innovate UK and the first steps of scale and commercialization with VCs. Everyone wants consistency from policymakers in order to have the confidence to invest, and a key challenge for the next government will be enabling patient capital to find its way to high-potential companies that are not going to deliver huge investor returns in a short time frame. That said, we also learned more about initiatives like Bristol's City Leap initiative, which is already injecting nearly £500m into low-carbon infrastructure thanks to a public-private partnership with Ameresco. We think Bristol might be an interesting next stop for Netting Zeros when we get back on the road. More thoughts from SMEs like Spaceforge Aerosystems Pvt Ltd., FLIMAX Ltd, BX, OceanMind coming in the podcast very soon so please stay tuned!

Spot on and timely! Last week at #InnovationZero24 a very interesting panel was held on the role of #CorporateVentureCapital in #climatetech with Emerald Technology Ventures' Gina Domanig, ArcelorMittal's Irina Gorbounova and Aramco Ventures' Hans Middelthon, moderated by Aimava Ltd's Andrew Gaule. This is a topic of huge practical relevance, and the tech ecosystem needs to deepen its understanding of this type of partnership. As a private technology investor and advisor, I often get asked by tech entrepreneurs about the potential impact a corporate venture capital investor can have on their business, especially on strategy (“Does it box us in?”), commercials (“Will they be a customer? Will others in the same industry still want to buy from us?”), and exit options (“If they like the company, will they prevent a sale to others? If they don’t buy the company, does it send a mixed signal to the market?”). The answer on these is "it depends", I have seen both the good and the not so good side of it. I'd be curious to hear from others - what is your experience with Corporate VC in tech companies? #corporateventurecapital #venturecapital #growthequity

Had an amazing time at Innovation Zero, meeting so many interesting people working at critical junctures of climate and business. Expect more in the coming days, but as an American there was something really striking: Many people talked about how the US is now leading in clean-tech investment and the UK has to do more to catch up. That was really not the paradigm throughout my environmental career. The US was always behind on policy, investment in renewables was behind Europe and China (at least the perception), and now suddenly its not. Of course, this wasn't sudden, the US after failing on climate miserably for 4 years found a way forward. Will be interesting to see if the UK follows that shift after several years of lackluster climate performance. One other quick observation: IZ really felt like a modern clean-tech conference. For so long I would go to environmental conferences and there would be one banker, usually from Credit Suisse or somewhere random, and like two green companies. The past two days it felt like everyone we met was either an investor or a company looking for investment. That's huge. We are just getting started.

ANGELES MORENO VALLEJO Moreno: “European event competitions foster a culture of excellence” What do you consider the most important criteria when evaluating projects? When evaluating projects, the most important criteria for me include: 1. Innovation and Creativity: How original and inventive is the project? Does it introduce new ideas or approaches? 2. Impact and Effectiveness: What tangible outcomes and results has the project achieved? How has it made a difference for its target audience? 3. Execution and Delivery: The quality of implementation, including attention to detail, smooth execution, and overcoming challenges. 4. Audience Engagement: How well did the project engage and resonate with its intended audience? Was the audience interaction meaningful and impactful? 5. Transformation of Human Behavior: How effectively does the event design focus on enhancing knowledge, developing skills, facilitating meaningful connections, and fostering a change in attitude? 6. Triple Positive Impact: How does the event contribute to environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and economic growth?
