𝘽𝙤𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙋𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 - 𝙌𝙪𝙚𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙀𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙅𝙤𝙗𝙨 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣 Expressions of interest are now open for the following advisory positions: > Chairperson and members of the Queensland Energy System Advisory Board (including those who identify as being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander). > Chairperson for the Energy Industry Council. > Queensland Renewable Energy Jobs Advocate (the Jobs Advocate). The Queensland Government Energy and Jobs Plan sets the direction to transform Queensland’s energy system and reaffirms the State's commitment to achieving 50 per cent renewable energy by 2030, and 70 per cent renewable energy by 2032 and 80 per cent by 2035. At the same time, the Queensland Super-Grid Infrastructure Blueprint outlines the optimal infrastructure pathway to decarbonise the electricity system and achieve the ambition of the Plan and a Queensland Energy Workers’ Charter was signed. The Charter is a landmark tripartite agreement between relevant unions, publicly owned energy businesses and State Government to create an enduring framework to provide confidence to workers and their communities through the energy transformation. The Queensland Government is legislating the establishment of a new Queensland Energy System Advisory Board, an Energy Industry Council and a Queensland Renewable Energy Jobs Advocate. The Board will provide independent, technical advice to Government on how to transform the electricity system to achieve the renewable energy targets, at least cost, while ensuring energy security and reliability. The 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 are accountable to the Minister for Energy and Clean Economy Jobs (the Minister). There is an opportunity for experienced professionals to provide leadership and facilitate technical and trusted advice to the Minister on decarbonising the electricity system to achieve the Government's ambitions and to support a smooth energy transformation in Queensland. The Council will be fundamental to implementation of the Queensland Energy Workers’ Charter and the Job Security Guarantee. The 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 of the Council will guide the Council in its advisory role. The Council is accountable to the Minister. The Chairperson will also provide leadership to subcommittees established by the Council. The 𝗝𝗼𝗯𝘀 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 will advise Government on ways to increase employment opportunities in the energy sector. The Jobs Advocate will be accountable to the Minister. This exciting opportunity seeks a passionate and experienced professional to work with key stakeholders, including First Nations Peoples, local governments, and regional communities, to stimulate local economic activity and jobs through Queensland’s energy transformation.
