Last night, Mark Evans and I had the pleasure of attending Business Chamber Queensland's event on "Building Boardroom Diversity". The insightful panel discussion confirmed the importance of diversity in the boardroom with some great takeaways: ✔ Board appointments should never be reduced to tokenisation. Diversity is not just about filling a quota, but having fresh perspectives and broadening decision-making. ✔ The significance of demographic diversity brings unique experiences and insights. ✔ It was interesting to learn that a board that agrees all the time is not necessarily functional. In fact, disagreements and constructive conflicts often lead to better outcomes. ✔ You need to learn to feel comfortable making uncomfortable choices when choosing a board member. Having someone on a board who is not like you might be difficult, but the value they bring in terms of diverse thoughts and viewpoints could be a game-changer. The essence of board diversity lies in having a collective of individuals with different backgrounds and experiences. #BoardroomDiversity #BusinessChamberQueensland #Leadership

Co-sponsored by the Bridgeport Regional Business Council (BRBC), the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce the 𝗣𝟮𝗣 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 immediately attracted a core group of select members. That they’re all still actively participating in this program more than three years later is a testament to the value each of them receives from our monthly get togethers.
