In the world of radiology, is AI adoption worth the cost? Where is the clear ROI? It may seem just as practise expense, but if we understand the day-to-day work of a radiologist, we would be able to answer this questions better. 1. AI can help alleviate the growing shortage of radiologists by streamlining workflows, enabling faster and more efficient patient care. 2. AI's value proposition extends to population health by identifying incidental findings in imaging data, benefiting patient outcomes. 3. AI can enhance the efficiency of radiology workflows, improving patient care and potentially saving costs in the long run. https://lnkd.in/gwd_W8fC #aiinradiology #healthcareinnovation #radiologyai #patientcare #ai4good

At RP we invest in people and technology.
How will AI address the shortage of radiologists and increasing imaging demand? Nina Kottler, MD, MS, Associate Chief Medical Officer for Clinical AI at Radiology Partners, believes the proof is in reporting. "The AI that we are finding provides the most efficiency tends to be the ones that are working with the reporting tool, doing something with reporting. If you look at how much time a radiologist spends reading the study versus reporting, the vast majority is actually in the reporting, filling out the preamble of the report, information about the comparisons, the technique, etc., and writing or dictating the findings and impression. The other thing that we found in using some of those tools is they significantly help with the mental fatigue that a radiologist has at the end of the day. We are all burnt out because we're trying to do too much. And if you can decrease your mental load, decrease your mental fatigue, at the end of the day, it's a massive benefit," Kottler said. GE HealthCare and Mass General Brigham are collaborating on an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm to enhance scheduling operations in healthcare. Their first AI application, the schedule predictions dashboard of Radiology Operations Module (ROM), aids in optimizing scheduling, reducing costs, and freeing providers from administrative tasks. It predicts missed care opportunities (MCO) and late arrivals, potentially improving patient satisfaction and accommodating urgent appointments. In tests, the algorithm correctly predicted MCO rates up to 96% with limited false positives. This operational AI tool has the potential to reduce burnout and enable more physician-patient interaction, leading to better outcomes. 🚀 Great piece on radiology AI from AuntMinnieEurope.com. It rightly highlights how not all AI is created equal - only 20% of AI algorithms improve radiologists’ performance. We're able to show how autonomous AI can significantly enhance radiologists' efficiency and improve patient care. With precise insights healthy normal x-rays can be removed from clinician's worklists altogether. This would create a marked change in the global workforce shortage, enabling radiologists to focus on complex cases and deliver better patient outcomes.
