CEO, Founder @ BILLY.app | Cost of care should never be a comorbidity

“There are easier ways to make money in healthcare…” The first time I met Grant Gordon from Artemis by Nomi Health, this was the core of our conversation - that trying to sell benefits analytics software to mid-level HR leaders in companies who desperately needed help curbing their healthcare spending was really hard. Solving meaningful problems in #healthcare is hard, fraught with #conflictedincentives, and emotionally and financially draining. Want to make a ton of money in healthcare? Be an #administrator or a #broker or a #paymentsprocessor or all of them. Here’s looking at you Optum, Zelis, Waystar and so many others. So why do people try and solve core, #firstprinciples problems in the face of overwhelming odds against? Cause it seems like the right thing to do. Jordan Peterson said that doing #hardthings is the essence of life. President Henry Eyering gave an incredible talk years ago about asking God for challenges and #mountainstoclimb. President Kennedy said we go to the moon, not because it is easy, but because it is hard. Seek out hard things, hard problems, insurmountable odds. You cannot know the personal or professional #growth waiting on the other side of your efforts. Sometimes having the faith to #movemountains means picking up a shovel and starting to dig. #disrupthealthcare

I do NOT recommend listening to any advice from Grant Gordon: any current affiliation to Nomi Health is a automatic disqualifier IMO bc the company is a total fraud that caused unimaginable harm during the pandemic (fun fact: more people would be alive today if Nomi had never been created). If he's willing to co-lead that company (per his LI profile), then I'm completely uninterested in anything he has to say about healthcare TBH. This story from the New Yorker below touches on just some of the sordid details of how Nomi Health made all its money. Forewarning: the details will make you sick 🤢 https://www.newyorker.com/tech/annals-of-technology/how-utahs-tech-industry-tried-to-disrupt-coronavirus-testing
