In a remarkable debut, Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) made a significant impact on their first day of trading, with combined volumes surpassing $4.5 billion. This impressive start was led by financial giants BlackRock, Fidelity, and Grayscale. The iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) from BlackRock emerged as the top performer among the new listings, generating over $1 billion in trade volume, accounting for 22% of the total volume across the group. Fidelity’s FBTC followed with notable performance, recording $685 million in trades. Spot Bitcoin ETFs Garner Impressive $10 Billion in Combined Trading Volumes Within First Three Days of Debut In the initial three days since their market debut, spot Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) have demonstrated robust trading activity, collectively reaching approximately $10 billion in trading volumes. Notably, BlackRock and Fidelity have emerged as frontrunners in this competitive landscape. BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has notably exhibited remarkable performance, recording trading volumes equivalent to nearly 15 million shares, translating to approximately $370 million in value on Tuesday. Simultaneously, the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) seen trading of approximately 8.2 million shares, valued at approximately $310 million on the same day. To provide context to this remarkable feat, Bloomberg Intelligence ETF expert, Eric Balchunas, underscores the extraordinary nature of newly launched Bitcoin ETFs amassing $10 billion in volume within the initial three days. In comparison, the 500 ETFs launched in 2023 collectively generated $450 million in volume, with the most successful among them reaching $45 million. BlackRock's IBIT alone has surpassed the entire trading activity of the 2023 cohort, underscoring its remarkable market reception. Media is portraying a "unsuccessful" or "underwhelming" #bitcoinetf launch. However, actual data shows the complete opposite! In reality (not in spin doctor land), US Spot Bitcoin ETF launch was one of the most successful in history. 10 ETFs => $10b in 3 days VS 500 ETFs launched in 2023 => $450m in 1yr. Media uses the ~10% price drop after ETF launch as the "evidence" for failure which is deceptively cherry-picking data. Such corrections is inevitable after a 200%+ gain since Jan 2023 in a relatively volatile asset like BTC as well as absorbing distributions from #grayscale.
