Calling bright, ambitious high-school students! Take your career skills to the next level this summer with Futures Forge's Skills for Success Course in Boston! The 2-week program (June 16-28 or July 7-19) helps students improve their ability to perform in cognitively challenging future endeavors in college and high-flying careers. Students come out of Futures Forge with the confidence and ability to face complex, ambiguous, novel, difficult challenges full of many stakeholders in their lives without getting stuck, but instead can quickly explore, research, experiment, fail, iterate, and ultimately work their way toward success. These kinds of highly complex challenges are the core of the difficult work that lies ahead in college and in a great career. This year's lead instructors are the founders, Nat and Erik. Futures Forge is inspired by the success Nat had developing recent grads from Ivy+ schools in the firm he founded, Stroud International. Stroud’s success in helping Global 1000 businesses and the rapid learning of early employees earned them "Best Small Consulting Firm" 7 times in 8 years. Erik (MIT 2009, Bachelors & Masters) is a serial tech entrepreneur and operational front-line and executive leader who has collaborated with Nat on various projects for over a decade. He was an undergrad and grad student at MIT, and a consultant at Nat’s firm. Nat and Erik have taught this course to MIT students attending MIT, and now you have the chance to learn firsthand from both instructors during this summer's course! Setting New Standards: Putting Students First One of our guiding principles is to improve the student experience by understanding how students actually experience the university, particularly the way we communicate, design processes, and provide support. This last year we thought a lot about removing roadblocks, supporting the whole student with efforts toward community and belonging, and helping them stay on track for graduation. ✅ We launched the Summer Success Program in 2021 as a means for first-year students to earn credits. 98% of students who participated in Summer 2022 were enrolled full-time in the Fall 2022 semester. 🏁 As many of us witnessed, COVID-19 left some students just a few credits shy of graduating. So we created the Summer 2023 Graduation Grant program to help students complete up to 12 outstanding credits over the summer. This summer, more than 200 students enrolled in ~1,500 credits to help them successfully cross the finish line. Check out more on this topic in our 2022-2023 NYU Global Enrollment Management and Student Success Annual Report at https://lnkd.in/dAaYV69t I’m curious, how do you support students during their entire college journey? #EnrollmentManagement #HigherEducation #StudentSuccess #HigherEdLeadership #PutStudentsFirst #AccessToEducation

Developing the right learning models, technologies, and physical environments is a top priority for educational institutions. As Gensler's clients invest in the spaces, technologies, faculty, and staff to support different educational models, we are having critical conversations over the future of education that are driving medium- and long-term planning investments. Our friends at Schools That Can have organized an engaging Fireside Chat between John King, Chancellor of the State University of New York and Nancy Cantor, Chancellor of Rutgers University - Newark that will address the most pressing questions in higher education head-on. I plan to tune in and learn more about how universities can play a role in preparing students to be effective public citizens and thrive economically and socially in a rapidly changing world. #EdChat #learning #Teaching #Leadership #Elearning #Success https://lnkd.in/eBJR-pPg

While inspirational stories of college dropouts like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg achieving great success can be motivating, their paths should not be used to diminish the value of education. These entrepreneurs had unique opportunities and talents that enabled their success without a degree. For most people, higher education remains one of the best investments they can make in themselves. College sharpens critical thinking abilities, exposes students to new ideas and skills, and serves as an important credential for many careers. However, a traditional four-year college is not the only path forward. Reasonable arguments can be made for alternative education models like vocational training, community college, or bootcamps. The key is to thoughtfully consider your interests, talents and career goals when making choices about your education. Rather than using dropout stories as an excuse to avoid hard work, they should inspire us to pursue our passions relentlessly. With focus and determination, we can achieve great things whether or not our path includes college. But education in some form remains the surest way to expand opportunity. ✅ Concluding the idea of dropping out of college means studies aren’t important makes no sense at all.
