Planning a meaningful funeral can be a daunting task, especially when dealing with the loss of a loved one. It calls for careful considerations, personal touches and varied options as suggested in a recent guide by Batesville. It's not merely about complying with rituals but about celebrating a life well-lived.🙏🎗️ Reminded of a personal instance when we had to organize a dear one's funeral. Going beyond the customary rites, we chose to incorporate elements that captured his love for nature 🌳 and music 🎵. We found that in sharing stories and memories, the gathering stood not just as a farewell, but as a celebration of his life. Uniquely personalized funeral experiences are emerging 📈 with a rise in adoption of eco-friendly options and virtual participation. These practices reflect our evolving societal and individual attitudes towards death and remembrance. Additionally, the trend of conducting "celebration of life" services emphasizes the positive aspects of one's life journey. They are less mourning, more cherishing the memory. What would you choose? A traditional funeral or a 'celebration of life'? How do you envision personalizing the last respects for a beloved? Remember, when planning a funeral, it's about creating a space for the living to grieve, commemorate and heal, while honoring the departed. #funeralservice #planning #griefsupport #healing #celebrationoflife #lastrespects #funeraltrends

As funeral directors, we understand death differently from most of the people we meet. It's not that we know more; we're just around it more often, and that gives us a different perspective. If you're looking for a broader understanding of #death and the ceremonies surrounding it, it could be worth watching 'The Last Goodbye' on #SBS. In this new three-part series, you can follow Ray Martin as he dives into the world of death and funerals and plans his own #funeral. https://lnkd.in/gHKeqn6s

Preaching a funeral sermon for the first time? Let me guess. No seminary class prepared you to step into the reality of a grieving family that’s lost a loved one. Nothing prepared you to be the person everyone is looking to as they process their grief and look for someone to help them find hope in the midst of loss. I won’t sugarcoat things. Preparing a funeral sermon isn’t easy for a number of reasons. But it isn’t a hopeless task, either. In fact, it’s a unique opportunity to deliver an impactful message during a time of mourning. It’s possible to deliver a sermon that balances an honest assessment of someone’s life, the larger implications of death, and our neverending hope in Christ. https://lnkd.in/dPmaR89c

The Lichfield Funeral Celebrant - Humanist Funeral Celebrant - West Midlands, South Staffordshire and surrounding areas.
Like many of you, I subscribe to the ‘Nextdoor App’ for our local area. From time to time, they send me emails to encourage me to post and advertise my services as a Humanist Funeral Celebrant. Last week I received one with suggestions of offers I could add to promote the work I do – I thought I would share them with you – you can judge whether they are appropriate! 1. Father's Day is coming, post about any specials 2. Ask neighbours about their summer plans, make it relevant for your business 3. Let neighbours know about your availability over the coming weeks or how early they need to book to secure an appointment 4. Show a before and after photo of your work 5. Highlight a recent recommendation from a happy customer I can tell you about numbers 3 and 5: – I have plenty of availability – If you check my website, there are lots of recommendations from customers (humanist.org.uk/marktaylor) – I’m not sure about the term ‘happy’, it’s not the usual emotion associated with funerals. As for the other suggestions: – I’m not going to do any ‘Fathers’ Day Specials’! – I’m not sure that my neighbours’ summer plans are particularly relevant to my business! – As most of the work I do ends in a cremation, I don’t think that you’ll want to see any ‘before and after’ pictures (I might be wrong on that one!) Anyway, all flippancy aside, if there is anyone who thinks that my services could be useful to you, please send me a private message, with contact details and we can arrange for me to visit and begin to plan your loved one’s ceremony, celebrating their life. Message me or comment with any questions that you may have – I’m always happy to respond and will help whenever I can. https://lnkd.in/d6bPr_Y #humanistfuneralcelebrant #humanistceremonies #nonreligiousfuneral #funeraldirector #bereavement #nextdoorapp #thelichfieldfuneralcelebrant #humanistsuk

Founding Funeral Director at Thereafter.uk Specialist in bespoke funerals fit for today socially and environmentally
Working in the funeral industry gets mixed responses in social circles. It is however one of the most rewarding of vocations I could have entered into - through film, events, theatre and then establishing a destination brunch venue with gallery and event space, my route into the funeral industry has been incremental. From day one the mission was to re-humanise death and make our goodbyes relevant to our lives and lifestyle choices today. It is a curious and fascinating industry with some incredible people providing care, compassion and professional knowledge and support in the raw and turbulent time of grief. There is a however a lot of unpicking to be done too. It is unquestionably horrendous when news of mind-blowing bad practice is discovered, and rightly so, revealed. Knowledge is power. Trust is key. Sharing a very useful article from The Good Funeral Guide about what to expect when ashes are returned to you. I know we don't like to to talk or read about death but somethings are good to know #funeral #truth #knowledge #bestpractice #demystifydeath #ashes
But what about the ashes?
