Wildfires pose a significant and ongoing threat to Colorado. Rapidly changing and extreme weather conditions can generate larger, more intense and faster moving wildfires. Coloradans rely on us to power their lives. That’s why Xcel Energy is committed to proactively implementing actions that focus on safety, community and strengthen our power grid. We’ve expanded our investments and improvements to build resilience and increase our situational awareness. To date, more than $450 million has been invested to protect the lives, homes and Colorado forests from the threat of wildfire. 🌟 Reflecting on the incredible camaraderie within the electrical industry 🌟 This Memorial Day weekend, I had the privilege of witnessing the true brotherhood that exists within the electrical industry. Multiple crews from various companies, including the one I am proud to be a part of, were called out to aid in storm restoration efforts across Texas. What struck me the most was the seamless unity that prevailed among us. Amidst the chaos and urgency of the situation, we didn't see distinctions of companies or titles. Instead, we saw towns in dire need and tasks that demanded our attention. Shoulder to shoulder, we worked tirelessly towards a common goal - restoring power and hope to those affected by the storm. In a heartwarming display of compassion, some of our team members went above and beyond their duties by distributing water to the communities in need, even outside of their work hours. It was a powerful reminder that our impact goes beyond just fixing power lines; it extends to the lives and well-being of the people we serve. I am humbled to be a part of such a selfless and dedicated community. The spirit of collaboration and mutual support that I witnessed this weekend reaffirms my belief in the power of unity. More than 5 million people are without power across Texas. In storms like #Beryl, our first priority as always is safety – the safety of our team and their families, the safety of our customers, and the safety of our community. Before #HurricaneBeryl even made landfall in Houston, some area businesses took proactive steps to keep their power on. With Enchanted Rock, these businesses transitioned to natural gas generator power, ensuring they would stay operational during and after the storm. With natural gas generators, which don't need refueling like diesel generators, our customers will continue to serve their communities no matter how long it takes to restore power from the grid. Since this morning, we’ve covered more than 150 outages, and continue to monitor evolving conditions and keep the power on as our teams, customers and communities begin to focus on recovery. #safety #houston #texas #txwx #poweroutage #storm

Pioneering first-of-its-kind mobile infrastructure 🏗 Following the devastation of Hurricane Ian, Lee Health sought an #InfrastructureSolution to mitigate future storms' impact on their care. ⛑ Working closely with the Black & Veatch team, a solution was born: the Mobile Disaster Response Unit. 🚍 With resiliency top of mind, redundant power supplies were built into the design of the MDRU so Lee Health can operate independently of the grid when needed. During a six-hour pilot test of the vehicle, all the electricity came directly from the rooftop solar system. Even while running the AC unit for multiple people inside the vehicle, the backup generator never had to kick on. ⚡ And that's just the beginning! Houston… We have a problem! Over 4 million Texans are without power from high winds and heavy rainfall from Hurricane Beryl. Predicting power outages in the forecast cone is a challenge. But historic power outage data can help us to better prepare for future storms. PRATUS provides hour-by-hour power outage analytics that can be leveraged by electric utilities to inform storm planning and assist with recovery and restoration actions. This technology can also be used to defend allowed storm costs, optimize restoration, and inform grid resiliency investments.
