Exciting News from Our Office! At DMS Navigator, we believe in making a difference in our community. This belief recently turned into action in an unexpected but gratifying way. For some time now, the ground floor of our office has been empty. Renting it out was on my agenda, since our last tenant moved out a year ago. However, life had a different plan in store. A few weeks ago, I was approached by a local supplier partner with a unique request. They asked if we could assist Mums-In-Need, a local charity dedicated to supporting mothers enduring ongoing coercive control post-separation from abusive partners. This charity, led by the compassionate Laura Riley, found themselves in a predicament – they were being evicted due to their landlord's bankruptcy. After meeting with Laura and understanding the critical support Mums-In-Need provides, it was clear that our vacant office space could serve a much greater purpose than just generating rental income. It perfectly matched their needs. The challenge, however, was their budget for rental space: zero. What's the value of an empty space compared to the value it can bring by supporting a noble cause? We were at zero loss, and here was an opportunity to contribute meaningfully. So, we made the decision: Laura and her team could move into our offices this week, rent-free. This allows Mums-In-Need to continue their invaluable work without the added stress of finding a new office space. We're thrilled to welcome Mums-In-Need into our building and feel privileged to support their essential work. I t's a reminder that sometimes, the best use of our resources is not in what they earn us, but in what they enable us to give back. Cuz why not move your home and office in the same month Apartment life has been easy to adjust to, but no matter how much I keep donating and purging there is just so much stuff to go through and unpack (fyi please start purging way before you plan to move lol) Our computers and phones were switched yesterday at the office so all our staff are under one roof now....it makes the work flow for me much smoother, gives more definition to our agency and just makes the most sense to be together But change is exhausting...physically moving, purging and organizing and also emotionally with seeing memories and deciding what is needed/worth keeping versus what can be ditched With my new office...I lost a window view, gained a door so I can be accessible from both programs and have a new rising stand up desk (yesterday was too fast paced to try it out though) One thing is for certain...my kiddo's Cat in the Hat pic he drew when he was in 1st grade will always hang in whatever office I have as it reminds me of how quickly life passes but oh the places we will go...
