The Healey-Driscoll administration is celebrating that the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) have won nearly $1 billion in federal funding for the replacement of the Cape Cod bridges. The funding is from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Bridge Investment Program (BIP). This brings the total amount of federal funding secured for the project to nearly $1.72 billion, in addition to the $700 million in state funding pledged by Governor Maura Healey’s administration. 3wHopefully now these bridge projects can move forward and be fast tracked and not be bogged down by Massachusetts politics. This project needs to get done. These bridges are over 85 years old. They are an important link to traffic congestion relief, future Tourism and Business on Cape Cod.
