Did you know CommBank first began rolling out ATMs across Australia in 1981? 💳    You could visit your local CommBank branch to learn how to use this new technology with an ATM training machine. These machines allowed you to make practice transactions, so you knew exactly what you were doing when using the Autobank unassisted.

I remember a customer coming into the branch asking what that newfangled thing was and couldn't we wait until all the old people had died. A hoot- I remember being one of the business testers all those years ago.

I commissioned the 1000th ATM :) which was also the first machine with a color screen. The Honorable Nicholas (Nick) Greiner was scheduled to officially launch the machine, but he couldn't attend, so his wife performed the honors instead

Commonwealth Bank Why don’t you enable multi factor authentication for secure transactions? There is no authorised transaction in your system. If I have any person debit card I can purchase anything from websites. Being key bank in Australia you guys failed in security side. Last week my friend got fraudulent transaction for 200$ and the transaction happened in US. Of course your bank refunded. From security your bank fails.

And you then, like all of the other big 4, religiously pushed your customers to do all their transactions through the ATM. Couldn’t easily withdraw cash from inside the branch if there was an ATM there. Now you are withdrawing branches and ATMs at a furious rate. So much for customer service.

"I'll never get money out of a machine on the sidewalk". we could hear people say at the time. And the NSW State Bank had ATMs that spoke to you "The green machine is processing your transaction".

And now you change due dates for credit card statement payments, without notifying the customer, then charging them extortionist interest rates when they pay the balance late. UnAustralian.

Wow! Back to the days of the Commodore 64. Yes, I remember my Keycard and receiving pink withdrawal and green deposit slips.
